Can I give this higher than a 5? Gonna try~
I cried. And yeah, when a book makes me cry in some kind of way it’s an automatic 5 stars, so, take that as you will~ Just a wonderful story and I loved every second of it—I can’t wait to come back in a year or two and reread it like I do with all 5 stars lol Definitely inspiring and worth your time

Amazing. Wonderful. Spectacular. I loved every second of reading this and getting to meet all the new players—you bet your butt I spoke Alexei’s lines out loud because how could I not?—and seeing how Bitty and Jack got through their year~ just perfect!

I’ll be honest, I’ve put off reading the Drizzt novels for so long, even as a huge D&D fan, but when I read Slaying the Dragon: The Secret History of Dungeons & Dragons and learned more about Salvatore and the craziness he endured through TSF and then WOTC, I was beyond intrigued to jump in. So, I headed over to his website to see where to start, and Mr. Salvatore himself encourages first time readers to start here, with Homeland.
And boy did it not disappoint! I mean sure, I know how cool and special Drizzt is, but reading about what made him Drizzt and the physical and emotional trauma he endured to get to the Drizzt we know and love is … well, sure sounds like a great D&D PC to me! Homeland was a brilliant read, and ohhhh my gosh I’m so in love with Zaknafein, what a DAD! I’m definitely diving into the other books as soon as I can!

Moderate: Body horror, Child abuse, Confinement, Emotional abuse, Genocide, Gore, Physical abuse, Violence, Blood, Murder, Abandonment, Injury/Injury detail
It’s high fantasy and dungeons and dragons character backstory, so expect a lot of trauma—but everything turns out alright in the end.

Outer Banks meets Schitt’s Creek in this wild young adult mystery thriller! Casey status as a “Charmie” is no longer when her family suffers a huge loss in the stock markets. Now demoted to “Downstreamer,” Casey falls in with an unlikely group of friends on the hunt for lost treasure. But in the hunt, they might end up with more than they bargain for.
I think the fact that I read this book in 3 days speaks volumes! This was seriously that unputdownable! I loved that the core friend group was very Goonies-like—albeit, they’re teens and not children—and each had their own strengths and weaknesses they brought to the group and story. I especially loved how there was a character (no spoilers!) who was very red-herring-esque and very interesting. The storyline was so well done and I haven’t read something this entertaining in awhile!
Beyond that, I did think the end was a bit rushed but still satisfying, and I thought the underlying themes of classism and racism were expertly woven into the story. Overall, I loved it, and highly recommend it if you enjoy treasure hunting stories!

The Twisted Tale of Ariel if she had lost the battle with Ursula and ended up having to become Queen of Atlantia while she watched Vanessa marry her Prince.
A fresh take on an old story — but the graphic novel is extremely fast-paced! Great concept and definitely kept me engaged, but I feel like it’s lacking a bit from what the novel edition would offer. Still great for a person who enjoys these tales and would rather read a graphic novel!
Thank you to Disney Hyperion for supplying an ARC at North Texas Teen Book Festival!
