People always say the book is better than the movie... I think this proves them wrong lol That's not to say this book was bad, it was pretty good and filled me with happiness. But that's mostly because I've seen the movie a dozen times. I really think the movie was better.

The book was just so short and seemed to speed through the plot as if the author waited until the last day of their deadline to write this. It's a shame because we could have gotten so much more lore and information about the world and the characters.
slow-paced

I've been fascinated by this case for years, but this book did little for me. I don't know if it was the way it was written or how the narrator presented it, but it was very boring, felt preachy, and it felt fluffed out with information that didn't need to be there. I kept imagining an old woman standing in a college classroom, droning on in a monotone voice while stopping every few minutes to say, "this was really bad, wasn't it? this was terrible, can you believe this happened?"

Like, we all know it was terrible. We all know it was bad and that women were treated poorly back then. Then there's the note at the end about how things haven't really changed, that Jack still exists today but as a different person. I feel bad for what happened to them women and I can't say whether they were prostitutes or not, there's no proof in either direction. However, to talk about these horrible murders and then mention modern day misogyny like it's the same thing?

I'm tired of feminists. They've seriously lost the plot. I don't like to be preached at when I'm learning history.

Let me start by saying that I hate reading romance. So much so that I actively avoid books with the tag, even if they sound interesting. It just doesn't appeal to me at all. So, when I found myself in a challenge where it required a romance book, I agonized for DAYS on what to read, not liking the sound of any of them. This book seemed like the safest, more cozy and story driven than lust or erotica, which I hate.

This book was a pleasant surprise! I enjoyed the characters and I'm very interested in the world this author has created, especially the magic system. It was very intriguing. The romance was not forced, it wasn't lewd. It was actually quite cute and there was a moment when I wanted to yell at BOTH of them for being so dumb lol

I guess it helped that I could relate to the main character, who is a writer. For example:

"I can't write a synopsis because then I would have to know the ending. And why would I finish a book when I already know how it ends?"

He's my spirit animal, I swear to god. That is EXACTLY how I feel about my writing! I never knew quite how to say it, though, and he said it perfectly.

The narration was also quite good, but the female gave me anxiety a few times. She got WAY too into the role, speaking quickly like she was actually in a panic. Like girl, calm down! lol She was good, though, I liked her male voices. So yeah, I hate romance but I actually enjoyed this book. It was a great listen!

Boring drama. Boring characters. The whole book took place over just a couple of days, but it dragged on as if it took place over a month. All of the characters sucked aside from Olivia. The ending was disappointing and left me wondering, "is that it?" The women thought way too much about sex and the fact that they included a line about getting the "ick" from a man says all I need to know about both the author and this story.

I have been watching Zeducation for a while now and I often saw this book on the shelf behind him. I was very confused the first time because his name was on it lol I don't watch his videos in order, just whatever pops up on the home page, so I somehow missed the videos where he promoted his book.

I had to wait for like a week and a half on Libby because they only had one copy, but it was worth the wait! I never could have imagined all the hell this man went through, especially considering how cheery he appears in his video. I want to feel bad for him, but... I believe he wouldn't want that.

He went through hell. He suffered. He survived. I don't think he shared his story for sympathy or for people to feel bad for him. I think he shared it as a kind of "I survived this so you can, too!" I think he wanted to encourage people not to give up, no matter how fecked up your life is.

As someone who suffers from a severe anxiety disorder, I was very weary whenever he mentioned mental health, especially in regards to medication. I felt so much better when he said, "there are some people who need them." It was comforting, in a way. Reassuring. I know he would be the first to say that his opinion shouldn't matter because I don't know him and he's completely right. I still felt better, though lol

I'm not sure how this counts as a book, but I really enjoyed this. The voice acting was phenomenal, the plot was intriguing and, while I usually hate female leads, this one didn't annoy me at all. I liked her, even. I don't like the ending because now I want more lol But I tried searching for a second part and found none. I'd also like to purchase a book version of this if it's ever released!

I struggled to put this story down even when I was exhausted. I was hooked from the beginning and just wanted to know what happened next. It's not just someone reading the story, it's full voice acted and it's done so well, I know what everyone is doing without them even having to say it. It's like... listening to a TV show. That CAN be frustrating, though, because I kept looking over at my phone to see what was happening only to remember it's audio only haha

This should be a TV series or a movie. It's just too good not to be.

Listen, I have read many fanfictions in my day, but this is just ridiculous. Not only was it extremely boring, droning on and on, it just feels... disrespectful. It feels like something that should be posted on Tumblr or Wattpad, not a published book. I can't imagine Agatha would approve of this if she were alive today and I have to wonder what her family must think.

This book tries so hard to make you feel sorry for Nan, but I just don't. Yeah, she got dealt a really shotty hand, but that's no excuse. She is a terrible character, annoying to listen to. How many times did I want to just tell her to shut up?

The only redeeming quality was the narrator who did really good voices for the other characters. Everything else just sucked. It felt like I was listening for hours only to check and it was only 30% done. I was begging for her to just stop by the end and I felt such immense relief when it finally ended.

Keep your fanfiction on Tumblr, for the love of god. How this got published and even got an audiobook, I will never understand.

As someone who once plummeted right into the depths of BL online, I can honestly say that I do enjoy seeing men cross-dress. I can't explain WHY I like it, but I can never turn down a man in a maid uniform, my my! I feel like I gain more confidence in myself and my interests with every chapter that I read. We can't always explain why we enjoy something so thoroughly, and that makes people question if we truly like it, but it's so refreshing to be able to read and relate to Guuchi and Nishihara. And I still love Nakamura <3

Also, that last chapter HOLY HELL. I thought it might be a dream that Guuchi was having at first, but I don't even know. Now I regret not buying four volumes instead of two, I need to know what happens!

It's called the high school life, but they will soon graduate... I wonder if it will just be a short manga of it will continue to follow them through their college/adult years. Looking forward to the next volume!

"It's also rude to treat me like a perv-blocking wall!" "Don't you dare up the rating on this series!!"

Let me start by saying that I'm sick and feel terrible and quite sad/down, so I wasn't feeling up to reading a full book. Instead, I turned to this manga and I'm quite thankful I did! Reading this had me giggling like a school girl! It reminded me of my time on AarinFantasy (a bl focused forum), so it made me feel nostalgia while also laughing.

I love how Guuchi isn't ashamed of what he likes and dives in full circle. My heart swoons knowing that Nakamura, my favorite character, is so laid back about it. A lot of people would judge Guuchi for it, but Nakamura accepts it! It makes me so happy~

If you like BL, you'll like this series. If you don't, you may not understand more of the subtle discussions that take place, but I'd still recommend checking it out, it's a good read.

Comedy and school life, my two favorite things ♡ Then you have Guuchi expressing his love for something most guys don't like. It's so refreshing! I love this series ^_^
