I believe people won't read this book for the flowing prose or the way to construct a memoir. I think people will read it for its honesty and for the experiences Gunda Davis had. That's the reason why I read it. Sure, the writing was a little childish but who knows who the intended audience was for this book anyway?

The lack of citations bothered me, but as something written by a journalist, I shouldn't have been surprised. Coogan does try to get every side of the story, though it is obvious he is on the side of those "on the blanket."
