I don't know if I absorbed anything new, or if I knew the plot well enough that the language barrier wasn't a problem.

Don't get me wrong. I absolutely love Harry Potter. But the first and second book were a bit drab for me. J.K. hadn't quite found her groove yet, in my opinion. That, and I think they've gotten a little too easy for me to read.
