I am glad that we got a detailed account of this important history of the Solaris Empire. I really enjoyed learning more about Aldrik’s mother.
Many spinoff series lack the original characters that we love. However, this finale had a good amount of scenes with the old gang, which was a treat for fans of the Air Awakens series. This was an amazing and extremely thought-out adventure. Bravo!

What a beautiful story about climbing out of rock bottom and seeing that life is worth living again. I wish we saw more of Mor, and felt cheated out of spicy Feysand scenes (wouldn’t have minded a few scenes in their perspective), but I blew through this nearly 800 page book. It never lagged and Sarah always keeps us turning the pages in her monster-sized books. Another job well done, Sarah!

A disappointing and predictable sequel. There was too much dwelling on what happened in the last book and it lacked the adventure of its predecessor.
A strong premise that was poorly executed. There was little to progress the plot at all and I really had to push myself through.
The Hunger Games meets Air Awakens! It’s always a treat to dive back into this world. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of this universe and its characters! I would say though, it was a bit predictable for those who have read Vortex Chronicles, but I’m excited to learn more about Eira’s connection to Adela.
This was an fast-paced read that makes me eager for the next book. I am never disappointed by Elise Kova!

This is a nice read for those interested in anime and Japanese culture. I actually enjoyed the constant change of perspectives because I didn’t tire of the characters. The premise and world building are really intriguing, but the overall plot is weak.
Here’s to coffee, waffles, exceptional character development, and an ending that absolutely destroyed me.
