It's not an easy book but I loved it as it's well written and the author is a talented storyteller.
A mix of genre (mystery, historical fiction, magic realism) it's told by different POV and made me travel in time and space.
I loved the style of writing, the excellent character development and how all the elements mix creating an enthralling story.
There're some moment which are a bit hard to read as they talk about racism and how hard it was to be a non white.
Highly recommended.

I was attracted by the blurb and expected a very exciting novel, one able to keep on the edge.
My expectations were high and I was a bit disappointed.
There's plenty of potential, there're very interesting social remarks and a cast of very unlikeable characters.
But the suspense was missing and the book is too long making it a bit boring at times.
Not my cup of tea.

This is the first book I read by this author and want to thank the publisher that invited me to read this book.
It's a slow burning story, we are introduced to the characters and then things start happening.
It's a solid mystery, full of twists, and it kept me guessing and reading.
Even if the series is "Simon Serrailler" the main character is Freya Graffham, Simon appears and we get to know him.
I loved the style of writing, the character development and the humor

I read the first book in this series and then the 11th but it's ok as I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
It's a mystery that features a family drama, drug problems and I was glad to read about Simon investigating.
Even if the plot drags a bit at times it kept me reading and I liked the solid mystery and the plot.
The characters are well developed and the author is a good storyteller.

There's plenty of potential in this book, it could have been an interesting and unusual series but somehow it didn't work for me.
Even if there were some issues with the arc (in some parts the font was nearly invisible) I like the beginning and the style of writing.
It seemed to promise an entertaining story, a well developed and original world building.
Problem started after some chapters because not a lot was happening and the plot was a bit confusing at time.
I think that if I have to read such a long book (more than 700 pages) I want some actions, a plot that flows and keeps your attention alive.
After some chapters the story failed to keep my attention alive and fell flat.
Not my cup of tea

Another good addition to this series I love.
It's a complex mystery, full of twists, and it kept me hooked till the end.
A compelling and highly entertaining read that made me travel to the Hamptons and enjoy the descriptions of the places, food and antiques.
Meg is a clever and relatable woman, Patrick is an intersting character with plenty of baggage.
The characters are fleshed out and the plot flows.

Another heartwarming and sweet novel by Susan Mallery. It's festive and engrossing even if a bit too sweet at times.
The characters are relatable and well written, the plot flows, it made me laugh and root for the characters.

A good start for a new cozy historical mystery series. I had fun and throughly enjoyed it, a compelling and entertaining plot.
The characters are fleshed out and likeable, the mystery is solid.
The historical background is vivid.

I learned a lot and I found this book informative and well researched.
I don't think it's a book for linguists or anyone who's working on this field but it's an excellent way to discover facts about less know or nearly forgotten languages.
I enjoyed it and learned something new.
Highly recommended.
