I fell in love with the cover and then I fell in love with the story that made me smile and root for the characters.
An engrossing and heartwarming plot, great setting, likable and realistic characters.
I can't wait to read the next book by this author.
Highly recommended.

There's plenty of potential and it starts with a bang but the story didn't keep the same pace and level of attention and fell flat.
Not my cup of tea

There's a lot of potential, the plot is interesting but I think that the world building was lacking and I felt confused.

3,5* rounded to 4.
I love Patterson's book and didn't read the first one he wrote with Bill Clinton.
It's an entertaining, gripping and easy read. The plot is tightly knitted and there's plenty of action.
The first chapters were quite slow paced and it took a bit to be hooked.
I enjoyed it but it's less exciting than I was expecting.
It's a political thriller where the villains are so bad, the women are damsels in distress and there's plenty of stereotypes about Muslim and Chines.
I think you have to read it as a sort of political fantasy thriller.
I think that Clinton added some interesting insights on how things work at the White House.
I recommend it if you want an easy and entertaining read.

The only issue I can find it that I have to wait till September to read how it ends.
It's brilliant, a real page turner that I couldn't read in the evening if I wanted to get some sleep.
Great storytelling and world building, excellent character development.
I was enthralled and loved what I read.
I can recommend it enough.

I read “Echoes of The Runes” and loved the mix of historical fiction and romance, a highly entertaining and interesting story.
Whispers of the Rune is another good story by this author as it’s engrossing, fascinating and highly entertaining.
I’m a huge fan of Outlander and Doctor Who, this means I’m fascinating by story that features people travelling in time and meeting different way of living and cultures. I’m also a huge fan of Jody Taylor’s The Chronicles of St Mary's Series but I don’t know if this is relevant for this review.
There’s plenty going on: time travelling, action, fight, a lovely dog and two very interesting main characters.
Sarah is great character: I loved how she was able to cope in a different age and how she saw it as an opportunity to learn. The evolution of her characters is very interesting, and she grew on me.
Rurik is the Danish I’d love to meet handsome, gentle, clever and brave. I liked how he treated Sarah as a peer and how he came to love her.
The romance is slow burning and realistic, Sarah and Rurik don’t fell in love at first sight and their relationship grows as they share experiences and get to know each other.
The historical background is well researched. I found the parts set in the past vivid and learned something news about Viking culture and how people lived in the IX century.
One small note: the fantasy aficionado in me would like some more world building. How is the time travel working and how the magical objects were created? I would be interesting in know more about this part.
An engrossing and entertaining story that I highly recommend.

This is the first book I read by this author and won't surely be the last as I liked the well researched mix of historical facts and fiction and the style of writing.
The book is slow burning and I liked the vivid historical background and Minnie, an interesting and fleshed out characters.
Even if this based on the life of a real spy I think that the Minnie and her struggle to maintain the balance are at the centre of the story.
The author is a good storyteller and the book kept my attention till the end.
Recommended.

I loved “The Resident”, an excellent thriller that kept me on the edge.
I was happy when I was approved for the ARC of “The Rule” but I wasn’t expecting an adrenaline-fuelled and emotionally charged experience.
I cried a lot, I laughed and rooted for the good/bad guy.
Please don’t think this is a sappy book, there’s not an ounce of sentimentality in this story as it’s gritty, fast paced, and the growing tension keeps you on the edge.
But it’s the story of common people involved in something unexpected and totally out of their experience or comfort zone.
I volunteered in charities, and I met people like Daniel, Scott and Gemma. They fight every day, and they fight because they love their son/daughter. Daniel in the book is a lovely and happy guy but his father and mother have to face the reality that he will never be independent, he will be their baby as long as they live.
It’s called love and it’s what makes them go on.
The author did an excellent job in describing the psychological reasons behind Scott’s actions: he’s a good honest man but he loves his family and wants to fight for their welfare.
Scott and Gemma are alone in their battle and Scott will do everything that is needed even he doesn’t think it’s right.
He’s a great character and I rooted for him hoping for the best.
Daniel is sweet character, I liked how the author created a realistic character and there was nothing pietistic in his descriptions. His characters reminded of boys I met when I was volunteering.
I also loved Hannah, her grief and her desire to redeem herself after some errors.
The author is a master storyteller and builds the story involving you in the events that bring to the cathartic final part. There’s blood, violence and despair.
I was moved by Scott and Hannah battles, but the last chapter make me cry buckets as it was bitter-sweet, a sort of closure and start of something new.
I don’t know if I wrote something meaningful, it was a sort of flow of consciousness and I find hard to be logical, I hope I was able to make you understand because I loved this story so much and wasn’t able to put it down.
Please read it, take your time and enjoy this story, I strongly recommend it.

A witty, highly entertaining and engrossing cozy mystery that made me laugh and kept me reading.
There's plenty to love in this story: the quirky characters, the humor (loved the names of the chicken) and the solid mystery.
It's a first in a series and I hope there will be others as I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Highly recommended.

I never know if I'm going to like the stories in this series or not as it's a bit of hit/miss for me. I liked this one and had a lot of fun in reading it.
The plot is well developed, flows and kept me reading. The quirky characters are fleshed out and funny.
