There's a lot of potential and ideas but I found the book a bit confusing even if it's very interesting.

It's not easy to review this book as it's not a book that you read for the plot. You read for the information and because Martin Edwards is one of the most learned expert in the history of crime literature.
I had high expectations and wasn't disappointed.

Any new David Jackson's thriller is better than the previous and each of them kept me on the edge, was emotionally charged and full of suspence.
This one is full of surprises, well plotted and riveting. I love the storytelling and loved Izzy.
It's one of those book that keeps always on the edge and full of unexpected twists.

It'a a fascinating book, you read it and think "curiouser and curiouser" as there's a common trait of eccentricity and originality in all the characters that are in this book.

I know i'm going to read an entertaining and gripping story when I start a book by Nick Oldham featuring Nick Oldham.
There's darkness but there's also humour. There's a solid mystery that will kept me guessing and surprise with each twist.

A lot of short stories featuring Holmes and Watson in different moments of their life and career.
I thoroughly enjoyed them as the cases are always interesting and entertaining.
The authors did an excellent job in developing stories that do not contradict the canon.
The level is always high and it can be read one story at a time

I wanted to read this book as I was curious about the unusual setting and the historical timeframe. I think it's a good story, a solid mystery, and the historical background is well researched.
I hope to read other stories featuring these characters.
