This is a well plotted, gripping and entertaining story featuring interesting characters.
The plot is well developed and I appreciated the world building.
The rating could have been higher but it's part of a series and it's a bit confusing to read it as a stand alone.
I recommend to read the rest of the series and then this one as it's full of potential and entertaining.

A dark, gritty and gripping historical mystery that kept me hooked till the end.
Well researched historical background, good storytelling, solid mystery and a cast of fleshed out characters.
It's the first book I read by this author and won't surely be the last.

I don't think that Simon Brett can write a bad book and this was a great dramatisation of one of his mystery in the Charles Paris series.
The actors did an excellent job in bringing the characters to life and the gripping plot kept me listening.

It's the first time I read Sara Paretsky's short stories and the first time I read stories not featuring V.I. Warshawski.
That said this is one of those rare cases when I loved all the stories. It's hard to tell which of the 14 stories was the best and I appreciated how the author can deliver excellent works in different genres.
Well written, riveting and entertaining.

Another good book in this excellent series, gripping and entertaining.
I liked how the author dealt with the COVID and how he includes it in the plot. It's like an added feature that makes the plot more interesting.
It's a complex story, there's a lot of characters from the past and a sort of "perfect murder" and Bob Skinner cannot help being involved.
It's a bit slow at the beginning but once the tough game starts it's nearly unputdownable.
Quintin Jardin is an excellent storyteller and delivers a riveting story.

An engrossing and entertaining read, featuring two interesting characters.
Well plotted and well written, it's poignant and sweet.
I liked the characters and enjoyed the plot.
There's some small inconsistencies but they didn't stopped me to liking the story.

The so called Dark Ages are usually considered a barbaric age but they are fundamental in the construction of the world we are living in.
It's the age of Benedict, Augustinus, Gregorius and Charle Magne. I don't always agree with the author but I appreciated this well researched book as it's well written and compelling.
An interesting book if you want to learn about the seminal ages of Catholic Church in the West.

Another compelling story featuring the Cornish Girl. It can be read as a stand-alone as it's not a follow up to the previous story.
I was happy to catch up with the characters, loved their relationship and the vivid historical background.
The plot is engrossing and there's a lot going on including some romance.
