I'm on the fence because it wasn't what I expected, it was quite slow and it dragged a bit.
That said I generally liked the character development and the storytelling. As for the plot it's up to the reader decide if it was what they expected or not.

Even if I didn't read all the Chronicles of Elantra I can say this is the best I read so far: a complex, intriguing, and gripping story that kept me turning pages and reading as fast as I could.
Past and present are getting mixed, things from the past are affecting the present, nothing is what it seems.
Loved it since the beginning, was glad to catch up with the characters, and rooted for Mrs Edwards and her ghosts.
This is a very exciting story but it cannot be read as a stand alone as it's very hard to understand the world of Elantra if you didn't read the previous story
A wonderful fantasy that I strongly recommend.

I was attracted by the name of some of the authors and discovered plenty of new to me authors. As most of the anthologies it's a mixed bag but the level is always very high.
There's a lot of different genres and different type of djinns. I was fascinated by the difference and the variety.
It's an intriguing and fascinating anthology, highly recommended.

Prozac, Jaine Auster and her quirky parents are amongst my favorite characters in the cozy world and I know I'm for a treat and a lot of fun when i start a new book.
This one was very funny, with the right level of craziness and the right dose of Prozac. The solid mystery kept me guessing and the humour made me laugh.
Another winner i loved.
Highly recommended.

I'm a huge fan of Tamara Berry regardless of the name and the genre as I always know I will read a good story and have a lot of fun.
This one was better that the previous and up to my expectations.
Funny, gripping, a solid mystery that kept me guessing.
Highly recommended.

Even if I liked the style of writing I didn't care for the characters and the story fell flat.
Not my cup of tea.

This is an ARC I requested as it was tagged as horror/humour and I was curious to read it. As matter of fact there's some humour but there's plenty of horror: folk horror, cosmic horror, well done horror.
It starts as a thriller and the author did an excellent job in making you feel the sense of isolation, the winter climate, and the darkness.
It never stopped keeping me on the edge and surprising me.
The author is a talented storyteller and did an excellent job in developing the plot and the characters.
Some are quite hateful and the baddies are really bad.
An excellent horror, I look forward to reading other books by this author.
Highly recommended.

A very entertaining and compelling small town rom com. I had a lot of fun, rooted for the MCs, and liked the humour and the quirky characters.
I like the style of writing of this author and this was a good read.

i thoroughly enjoyed this book as it's a good romance and a good historical fiction. It's set in an age when a male gay could end in prison like Oscar Wilde and this add an interesting layer to forbidden to the story.
The romance is sweet and i loved both Charlie and Miles, I spent the book rooting for them even if I knew that any HEA was subjected to the limitation of the age.
I liked the style of writing, liked the humour and the fleshed out characters.
Can't wait to read other stories by this author.

I can understand why it wasn't a highly acclaimed success when it was published as there's plenty of elements which are very innovative.
It starts as a witty comedy of manners with a witty description of a newly married couple and it becomes a twisty and surprising mystery that kept me guessing till the end.
The book-in-the-book and the final twists are intriguing, the puzzle to be solve if quite tricky and the way it is solved it's very fascinating as it mixes psychology and classic police work.
I find the moral judgements on Sheringham's behaviour I read in some reviews a bit funny: what happens is not unusual for a Golden Age Mystery.
Berkley plays an intellectual game with his readers and I loved the game and the puzzle.
Highly recommended.
