It's the second time I read an Alexandra Benedict mystery expecting something lighter and entertaining.
It's the second time I'm surprised by a complex mystery, full of puzzle, a great homage to Golden Age mysteries.
I quite enjoyed this mystery and liked the puzzles.
It's gripping and kept me turning pages but it also deals with some very serious topics like PTSD and abuse and this was a bit unexpected even if I appreciated the empathy of the author.
Alexandra Benedict delivers another gripping story that challenged me to solve the puzzle and find clues.
Entertaining and gripping, recommended.

Detective Chief Inspector Coburg, his wife Rosa and Sergeant Lampson are well plotted and relatable chacters I liked and I was happy I was able to read a new instalment in this entertaining series.
It's a well plotted historical mystery, full of twists and red herrings. It kept me guessing and I appreciated the solution.
The historical background is well researched and I always learn something new when I read a Jim Eldridge's mystery.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and it's highly recommended.

I love Rachel Patterson's books and her no nonsense approach to the Craft and the path. This is an interesting book and it was easy to think the proposed rituals and ideas to the different festivals.

It's not the best mystery in this long series but it was entertaining and kept me hooked even if it dragged a bit in the middle.
Edward Marston can write excellent historical mysteries and this series is amongst my favorite as i love Colbeck and Leeming.
The mystery is solid and kept me guessing. I appreciated the descriptions of the historical background and enjoyed the story.

Lavie Tidhar is one of my favorite write and he could write a shopping list and my review would sort of “tought provoking, gripping, original, entertaining”. I love his alternate historical novels, his fantasy novels, and his work as editor of world sci-fi anthologies.
That said NEOM is a great story, it made me think of a mix of dream and dystopia. A place for the young and rich which is not far from the reminder of a far away past.
A novel that kept me reading, moved me to tears for an old automaton being destroyed, love the characters.
I enjoyed it, found it entertaining but it also made me think as the descriptions of NEOM are so similar to those of our world.
It can be read as a stand-alone but I would recommend to read Central Station to appreciate all the nuances of this story
I strongly recommend it, many thanks to Tachyon Publications for this digital copy, all opinions are mine
