I don't remember if I've ever read a book in this series and starting with n 36 could have a bit messy. I was lucky because it can be read as a stand alone and I think Ms Feehan can surely write a gripping book.
There's a lot of strong emotions, greed, and a well developed romance.

Ania Seton's Green Darkness is one of my favorite mix of historical fiction and paranormal, something in this book made me think of that beloved story.
This is a strong and gripping novel, a mix of fictional and historical characters with a pinch of paranormal.
It's a well plotted story and the characters are fleshed out.
It kept me hooked and it's my favorite by this author.

E.j Copperman mysteries are always a lot of fun and solid. This is the best one so far and I thoroughly enjoyed since the first pages.
