I had a lot of fun in reading this novel, a mix of comedy of manners and mystery. It's a very entertaining story, full of fun and well plotted.
I loved the puzzled and the solid mystery kept me guessing.
I would be happy to read other books by this author, this one is strongly recommended.

The blurb seemed very interesting and there were some funny moments. Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of the female character as I felt she was very unsure and a bit too obsessed with her weight.

It's the first I read in this series and now I want to read the other books as I throughly enjoyed it. Two well plotted and complex MCs, a plot that is both interesting and intriguing, a good story that kept me hooked.
I loved the storytellling and the characters.

When I read the blurb I thought about Pan's Labyrinth and I think there're some elements in common: the child, the isolation, the unknown and the wild.
It's a short story, more a novella than a novel, and you're immediately immersed in a eery atmosphere full of strange stories.
Izzy is just thirteen but the illness of her mother makes her the one who is in charge of cooking and cleaning. Her parents are lost in their life and do not seem to care: the mother with the young boy, the father an inventor.
Izzy is free to roam and she will be the one that triggers the changes.
A coming of age story mixed with folk horror. A story that surprised and i liked it.

Please read this book before nighttime because it slowly builds a creepy and terrifying atmosphere mixing folk horror and classic gothic horror.
Well plotted, highly entertaining, perfect if you want to be scared.

I fell in love with the gorgeous cover and then I fell in love with the well plotted and fascinating story.
It's set in a simil Russian world and there's a lot of work in developing the world and the plot.
Toma is a character that grew on me as I read about her and how she changed. The storytelling is good even if some parts are a bit slow.
