I like book set in Salem and love Nathaniel Hawthorne's books. This was a great story, a reimagining of how the Scarlet Letter was born.
The author is a talented storyteller and the characters are fleshed. Fascinating historical background.
Highly recommended.

This is the first book I read by this author and it’s the first in a new cozy series.
First thing first: I read some mystery featuring a book in a book, both mysteries, but it’s the fist time and I can say the author did an excellent job.
The world building is breath taking as there’s the main book and there’s the real mystery book and, as the story involves further paranormal elements, there’s more world building.
It’s a lot of work and, as I already said, the author did an excellent job.
It starts as a standard cozy mystery using one of the classic cozy mystery, the death of a relative and a life changing inheritance with some references to a mystery library.
The moment the library is discovered the “real” plot starts and it’s both gripping and highly entertaining.
The mystery is solid and kept me guessing, the characters are likeable and fleshed out. Frank, the cat, is a sassy talking cat and my favorite character.
I want to read the rest of the series as I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.
Entertaining, compelling, and gripping.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series and realize the complexity of the plot and of the world building when I read the synopsis at the beginning of the book.
This is the epic conclusion to an excellent fantasy series. I loved this last instalment, loved the actions, the new and old characters, and was satisfied by the end.
David Hair is an excellent storyteller and deliver a complex, gripping, and highly entertaining story.
There's more world building and developments of the character arcs and also some new characters.
It's always sad to say goodbye and I would be glad to read new stories set in this universe or a prequel.
This a series that requires to read the books in order if you want to enjoyed at maximum level.
Well plotted, great world building, intriguing.
Highly recommended.

I discovered Andy Carpenter Mysteries on Netgalley and became a big fan of the series. This is another highly entertaining and compelling novel, one I couldn't put down and read in two sittings.
It's always a pleasure to catch with the well developed and likeable characters, I love the humour and love the canine characters, from Tara to Simon Garfunkel.
There's a lot of funny moments and there's a gripping and fast paced mystery that kept me on the edge and guessing.
It's set at Christmastime but it's a not a festive novel even if there's gifts, trees and so on.
It can be read as a stand alone but be prepared because you will want to read the rest of the series.
Highly recommended.

I think that Sarah Booth Delaney Mysteries is one of the best mystery series and surely one of the best cozy mystery series.
The mystery are always well plotted, tightly knitted, and surprises me with every twist till the solution.
I love them because I always learn something new on the historical or cultural side.
Sarah Booth and her friends are a great cast of characters, well developed and likeable.
This is a complex mystery, full of references to historical facts and set in a wonderful place. The descriptions made me wish I could visit Bay St. Louis and I loved the setting.
The plot is well developed and gripping. A solid mystery that kept me guessing.
Strongly recommended.

I read a number of historical fiction book set during the Anglo-Saxon reigns and Viking raids.
I learned something about this historical time but this was a different take as this is a history book.
It helped me to learn about the historical facts and it was as fascinating as a saga.
HIghly recommended.
