There were parts that could have been used for a movie script: slowly and detailed, they describe what is happening and you feel like you're in the scene.
It was very strong at the beginning and it was like living the horror of the discovery.
A gripping and slow burning story that brings you to dark placed and keeps you hooked.
It's well plotted and well told. The characters are fleshed out and interesting even if they're not likeable.
It surprised me and I enjoy it.
Highly recommended.

I've been reading cozy mystery for ages and was curious to read this series. i discovered it was printed some years ago but I think it aged well.
Beth is an interesting character: witty, down to the earth, very different from Dulwich social butterflies. i like how she's a women who must work, pay for her credit card. She hope for the better future for her child and her first day at the local top school could help.
Thinks never works in the proper way and she finds her boss killed.
This is the start of Beth's career as amateur sleuth and I had fun following her investigations.
This is a humorous cozy and there's plenty of funny moment even if the mystery is solid and kept me guessing.
I liked the well developed and relatable characters and the witty and sharp social remarks by Beth.
It's the good start for a cosy series and I recommend it.

I liked the first book in this series but this one is even better as it's more complex and there's multiple POVs.
Beth is as likeable as usual and the author did a good job in developing the plot and the interesting characters.
There's plenty of twists and the solid plot kept me guessing till the end.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, had fun and was glad that Beth is still the witty and sharp character I loved in the first instalment.
The social remarks and the satire are still valid and I like them.
Highly recommended.

3.5 upped to 4*
This is one of my favorite series, I love the setting and always had fun in reading these stories.
This is not the best one even if it's enjoyable.
I need holidays and any time I read that Bailey wasn't able to say no I wanted to shout "Grow a spine girl" as I assume there's not a single point of contact in a village.
It was fun but it was also a bit repetitive and the ending was rushed.
I assumed this could be me and not the book but I liked it but didn't love it.

I checked and always rated a Vaseem Khan's novel five starts. This is another five stars and I loved this book sinced the first pages and couldn't put it down.
A page turner that made me travel in time and visit India in the time after the quit.
The historical background is as fascinating and vivid as usual, a realistic description and a sort of history lesson.
Persis is a great character, a strong women and I love her. I was glad to catch with her and the other characters.
The mystery is solid, full of twists and surprises. It kept me guessing and I didn't guess the culprit.

This is a well written book and I liked the storytelling. The perspective changed if reading it during the lockdown and after. I don't care for the characters but I liked the storytelling and the style of writing.
It reminded me of the Decameron by Boccaccio (but I found Boccaccio more entertaining)
Not my cup of tea.
