I think this is one of the best historical cozy series and it could be classified as "new golden age" in this case
New Golden Age is a type of traditional mystery that is inspired by the classic age of mysteries.
This novel is light mystery that deals with very serious topics like poison pen and how the social relationship in a village can be affected by malice.
Edwin and Beryl are fleshed out and relatable as usual but there's a more sombre tone and some important changes.
I liked how we get to know more about Beryl past and how she dealt with abusive men.
We learn something more about Edwina as well.
As for the mystery is complex and multilayered: there's a main plot, the poison letter, and there's the single stories usually related to the aftermath of WWI
The solution came as a surprise and the plot kept me guessing.
Even if it may sound a very serious story I had a lot of fun in reading this book and appreciated all the nuances and the style of writing.
Highly recommended.

There's a sort of old fashioned police procedural atmosphere that you can see in the way they relate to women.
It's like travelling back in time but after a couple of chapter the storytelling, the characters, and the plot hooked me and I had to keep on reading.
A dark thriller, a good cast of characters, a twisty plot.
I'm glad I discovered this series.

I wasn't a big fan of DI Gravel at the beginning of the first book but he grew on me and I liked him in this novel.
This is another dark and disturbing thriller, plenty of twists and some very graphic scenes.
It's a gripping and well written story, well plotted and with a cast of fleshed out characters.

When I requested this arc I thought it was part of a series of whodunnit set in Carmarthen. As a matter of fact I got the setting right as this is a very dark, twisty, gritty mix of police procedural and thriller.
Great characters and plotting.
This is another twisty and fast paced story that i enjoyed.

I cannot resist a book with a puppy/dog/cat on the cover and this one had "puppy" in the title and it feature plenty of pets
I loved Elise, Harris and Pancake.
It's a heartwarming, sweet, and entertaining story that kept me hooked and made me root for the characters.
It's a romance, it's a story of discovering who you are, and I loved the fleshed out characters and the lovely setting.
The author is a good storyteller and the well plotted story is compelling and cute.
Can't wait to read other books by this author.
Highly recommended.

This is the first book i read by Gena Showalter and was expecting a paranormal romance with an interesting world building and a romance.
I got a fantasy featuring a romance with some grim-dark moments since the first pages
As in the best grim-dark characters are damaged and flawed, a lot of them seem to be beyond redemption, and their character arc is what make this a paranormal romance and not a violent and bloody fantasy story.
It's not easy to like Viori as her power is unusual and can cause a lot of damages. Micah is a strong character and I like to learn his backstory.
There's some madness, a lot of anarchy, and a very interesting cast of characters. Not always likeable but interesting.
There's also betrayal and a lot of negative emotions in this story and I'm curious about what will happen in this series as there could be some interesting twists.
I think this is one of those book that can be appreciated by both dark fantasy and paranormal romance lovers.
Highly recommended.

I loved the Coward and liked The Warrior. It's an excellent book but it comes after a great story like The Coward and it was a hard task to write something better.
I was glad to meet again Kell, Sigrid, and Willow but I missed the heroes. They were a strong bunch of characters and Odd and Yarra were interesting but a bit less "epic".
Sigrid is the star of this book, the character who evolves into the warrior fighting to save her kingdom and fighting for her family.
I love this character and loved her strenght.
The Reverend Mother is one of those character you love to hate and her band of fanatic is a bit frightening as they remind some people from real life.
It's a fast paced, action packed story. It's not a doorstopper but it's a book that flows, keeps you turning pages and it's action packed.
I'm a bit sad to say good bye to this world and these characters. I would like to learn more about this, know what will happen.
It was a good travel and I think that Stephen Aryan is the heir to Gemmel.
I can't wait to read his next book, this one is highly recommended.

I loved this series and this was one of my top books of 2022. I was happy to catch up with the characters and was looking forward to reading it.
I had high expectations and, even if I enjoyed it, I think it was a bit too didactic and some parts reminded more of a lessons than a part of a plot.
I understand some parts can be useful for young queer reader but they slowed down the pace and the plot took the backseat.
I loved the characters and found the closure very satisfying.
I know that the very high level of the previous instalment spoiled me

An engrossing, poignant, and gripping historical romance featuring a cast of interesting characters and the story of a woman through ages.
