I didn't read "Pieces of Her" and didn't read a lot of Karin Slaughter's books so it's possible I missed some backstories.
I found this book gripping but also very slow at times. The dual time limes work and the book is well plotted but I was expecting to be hooked since the beginning and it took quite a long time before I was totally immersed.
It's a good thriller, gritty and twisty but i felt a bit disappointed.
The author is an excellent storyteller and this book is recommended.

Sarah Booth Delaney mysteries have a special place in my heart as I love Sarah, her group of friends, and the light touch of paranormal. There's always a lot of humour and you can feel the love of the writer for this places.
This is one of the best stories in this excellent series: there's plenty of twists, a complex plot, and a lot of secrets.
There's a lot of secrets and mysteries.
I missed a bit Zinnia but New Orleans is a magical place and it's a great background for this story.
The solid mystery, full of twists, surprised me till the end and was highly entertaining.
Can't wait to read the next story.
Highly recommended.

I'm in love with this stories, the magical setting, the characters and I'm reading small parts at the time.
I've not ended it yet but I love it and I wanted to say that this is a great book, a fantastic adventure in a place that could be New Orleans and the music plays a relevant role.
It's not a perfect book as it drags at times but it's a riveting book and I'm enthralled by this magic world..
I'm not ready to leave it yet but I want to let the world know how good it is.
Highly recommended.

A witty and entertaining rom-com that I throughly enjoyed. The characters are fleshed and likeable, i rooted for them, the romance is sweet.
A new to me author that I will surely follow.

When you read " Edited by Vaseem Khan and Maxim Jakubowski" and the name of the authors featured in this book you know it will be an excellent anthology.
It is an excellent anthology, I was glad to read new to me stories by I authors I love and discovered others.
All the stories are excellent and I think that my less favorite was a 4*.
Highly recommended.

I liked other stories by Kameron Hurley and was curious about this anthology of short stories.
It's not a fun or heartwarming read: the stories talk about war and dystopia, they're often grim and brutal.
But the author is a talented storyteller and kept me reading.
A good read if you want to read some interesting dystopia stories.

I love this series as the author did an excellent job in balancing fantasy and historical fiction. it was a gripping and highly entertaining read, a well told saga that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Great storytelling, world-building and character development.
Can't wait to read other books by this author.

4.5* upped to 5
When Berkley granted me the access to this ARC I discovered an excellent cozy author and fell in love with a new cozy series.
It's a series I read quite fast as I was enjoying what I read and wanted to know what was coming next.
Yale Lee and Celine are two interesting characters: Yale Lee is a sort of luddite, Celine hyper-tech and always connected. They form an unlikely duo but somehow it works.
I like reading about their relationship and their different personality.
It was a good introduction and I appreciated what I learned about culture and food.
The mystery is a bit slow as it takes ages before it starts and drags at times. I enjoyed it and it kept me guessing.
It's a good start and will surely read other books in this series
Highly recommended.

I like this series as it's witty, well written, and the characters are interesting.
This wasn't one of my favorite instalment as I found it a bit slow but I enjoyed it and was happy to read about the marriage.
The plot is well developed and there's plenty of twists and suspects. The solution surprised me but it was satisfying.
I can't wait to read the next story.

I fell in love with the gorgeous cover and loved this story that talks about oppression and hope.
You are immersed in a world where there's those who rule and those who serve.. There's a lot going on and it's not a book to read without stopping and reflecting because there's a lot of food for thought.
We are used to fantasy as a sort of way to escape reality, this book is full of situations that could be in our world but also of people fighting to improve and change.
The author is a good storyteller and I loved how world building and characters were developed.
An excellent story, highly recommended.
