The novels in the Cornish Midwife series are always poignant and emotionally charged. The stories of these women are told showing how grief can affect your life but also how the community and hope can help you to move on.
The story of Izzy made me cry buckets and smile. It's a story that talks about the circle of life, about losing and finding.
As I love this series I went for this book without checking the plot. As I'm not Christian I appreciated how the author deals with faith, a crisis of faith and never makes it in a preachy way.
Izzy and Noah are interesting characters, their story is a bit slow at times but kept my attention alive.
I was happy to travel to Port Agnes, catch up with the characters I already knew and met some new.
Jo Bartlett delivers a compelling, emotionally charged, and engrossing novel, heartbreaking at times and life affirming.
A bitter-sweet story that I strongly recommend as it kept me reading one afternoon.
Many thanks to Boldwood Books, Rachel's Random Resources, and Netgalley for this arc, all opinions are mine

I found it fascinating, riveting, well told and lyrical. A story about coming of age, about discovering a land and people. Different POVs, great characters and storytelling.
The author delivers a fascinating story where not all is said in a fascinating and nearly hypnotic way.
An excellent book that i loved.
Highly recommended.

I loved this series and this was the highly entertaining and gripping end that kept me turning pages.
The author is a good storyteller and delivers a well plotted story that leaves no plot hole and add details to the world building.
The characters are fleshed out and I appreciated their evolution and arc.
There were some repetitions and some moments when it dragged a bit.
I enjoyed it and it's recommended.

It's a solid mystery and a good debut. Gripping and well plotted.
It could have been a higher rate but there were too many details and this made the plot drags a bit.
I appreciated the well developed characters and found it entertaining.

This is the promising start for a new series: small town, lots of humour, fleshed out characters, believable and sweet romances.
The author delivers a compelling and entertaining story that made me root for the characters.
It's a well researched book and I loved how detailed the parts about bees were.
Highly recommended.

Sometimes you start a book just to check the style of writing. Sometimes you think that you will only read some pages and then, some hours later, you turn the last page after having read it in one sitting.
This is what happened, it was a long and adrenaline fuelled ride that kept me on the edge till the last page.
It starts with a bang and it's a like series of fireworks, unexpected twists, and a solution that I never saw coming.
I loved it, loved even the goriest and most horrific parts.
It's a disturbing, gritty, and gripping story that brought me to some very dark places and never let me stop reading even when I was thinking this is too much.
There's a lot of sufferance, there's a respectful approach to mental health issues, and there's a lot of empathy toward the victims.
There's something truly terrifying in this story and there's a lot sufference.
DI Henley and DC Ramouter are suffering from their personal issues with their families and from the PTSD due to the torture of a serial killer. I wasn't a fan at the beginning but they grew on me and I loved their humanity and empathy.
Ms Matheson is master storyteller and deliver a gritty and gripping story, a page turner I could stop reading.
It's highly recommended.

There's plenty of technothriller but not a lot sci-fi mysteries and this one was quite good.
It's set after the first contact, when Earth inhabitants and the Logi established diplomatic relationships and there's even a cultural attachè.
The cultural attache and Lydia, a translator, are the main characters and their relationship is quite interesting.
I appreciated how the author developed the characters, the idea that telepathically translation can cause a sort of drunkness, and the mysterious aliens.
The plot is well developed, entertaining and gripping and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I would be happy to learn more about the Logi.
Recommended.
