I had a lot of fun in reading this first in a new urban fantasy series. It's entertaining, fast paced, and I liked the references to pop culture.
The world building is quite original and the characters are interesting and fleshed out.
I hope there's going to be other books soon as I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Highly recommended.

It's one of those multilayered book that you read and will find different things according to your culture, mood, or whatever.
I noticed that I found hard to classify it because it could be a gothic thriller, a metaphor of female sexual oppression in the 50s, the story of a reclusive female painter who used to be one of the six female daughters of a wealthy family.
I think this is a clue of how complex and nuanced this book is. It's very slow paced but it's a page turner.
I loved the characters but I found the male characters flat.
I loved some partes and was bored by others.
I had a complex relationship but I think it's a recommended book.

A complex, fascinating, and gripping thriller set during WWII. It was the first I read by this author and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The solid plot, the well developed characters, and the vivid historical background make it a very interesting read.
It's strongly recommended.

The right summer book if you want to escape and have fun. It's uplifting, entertaining, and i had a lot of fun.
The characters are fleshed out and I rooted for them, the plot is original, and the setting lovely.

Chilly and twisty, the type of book that you can't read at night or if you suffer from high pression.
It kept me on the edge and made me turn pages as fast as I could.
My only note is that the end seemed a bit rushed, the rest of the story is brilliant and you are always left wondering if it's psychological thriller or horror.

This is quite an unusual and original fantasy, it's not the first thriller/mystery that features animals as main characters but it's surely the only i read that could be classified as a noir or hard boiled.
You can feel the influence of writers like Hammett or Chandler and of classic fantasy writers.
There's violence, there's sad moments but there's also lighter and witty parts.
it isn't a long story and it kept me turning pages.
I loved Cal and loved the well developed characters and the plot.
I'm curious about future books by this author.
Highly recommended.

This is a compelling, gripping, and well written mystery even if not as good as Alexandra Cupid's series. It would surely be a a top rated book but I was spoiled by Shaw.
It's a story set in a restricted environment with a limited number of possibile suspects. A musician whose career is not at the top, his fiancee, her ultra-rich parents
The mystery is solid and kept me guessing and reading.

I loved every moment of this book and became a huge fan of Tim Pratt.
You cannot help loving an author who is able to delivers such a high number of different worlds and this great characters.
Zax is a fascinating and fleshed out characters. His curse/gift of falling asleep and waking up in a different universe is fascinating and the core of the plot.
He shares some traits with Doctor Who as the companions.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and loved the characters.
Timothy Pratt is a master storyteller and this story kept me hooked is it's full of humour and gripping.
I strongly recommend it.
