I fell in love with this book since the first pages and couldn't put it down. It's a riveting and compelling story of a friendship but it's also the description of an era. It talks about private life, cooking, but also what was happening in the world.
The heroines are two clever and witty women and I loved them.
Great storytelling and character development.
Highly recommended.

It's a good start for a new series and I was fascinated by the magical system and the world building.
It's got the potential to become an epic dark fantasy series even if there's some issue in this first installment.
There's not a lot of action and the plot is quite static as it took a long time before it moved on. As it's a very complex world I assume the author wanted to deliver a detailed introduction to this world and these characters.
The characters are interesting, each of them represent a different god and each of thm has something that can help the quest to succeed even if they've got different agenda.
I think they will evolve in the next book.
That said I enjoyed the story and find it gripping and fascinating.
I can't wait to read the next story.

It poignant and life affirming, compelling and enjoyable. The characters and the plot are well developed and I liked how the author dealt with the different topic.

It's a brilliant novel I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated. A vivid and powerful historical background, a fascinating setting, well rounded and realistic characters.
The everyday life and the Blitz in Belfast, normal people and how they were affected.
I loved how the author split the plot into vignette and the storytelling is excellent.

This is one of my top 5 books in 2022, a book that made me laugh/shout with rage/move to tears and a page turner I couldn't put it down.
It's the story of a woman who fight, who that her merits are acknowledge, and live out of the grid but according to what she wants.
I work in high tech and I'm old enough to know that the "you're the secretary" phrase is something I heard well into this century, even when I was the project manager. It's not a secret that life for women in STEM is not easy and this book is the perfect description of what was but can also be now.
I loved the wry humour, Elizabeth, and the excellent storytelling. I can't find no fault in this book and I hope a lot of people will read it.
Highly recommended.

This is an excellent series, one of my favorite historical mystery series and this is one of the best instalment.
The plot is complex, full of twists, and we get to know more about Ralph Ryland's past and how it's affecting the present.
The plot is full of twists and gripping, the historical background vivid as usual, and the characters fleshed.
It was a compelling and entertaining read, highly recommended.
