I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery that kept me hooked. I appreciated the flashback, the plot, and the characters.
Some less dialogue would have helped.
Recommended.

I was more than happy when I was approved for this ARC as I appreciated other books by VE Schwab and, as it was compared to Gaiman and Del Toro, i couldn't wait to read it.
It's a gothic novel and I appreciated the style of writing and found it entertaining.
That said I felt like I was reading a story I already read: the orphan that grew up in an orphanage/workhouse and she will discover her long lost relatives and maybe solve the mystery related to the disappearance of her mother.
As I'm a not-so-very-young I think I read something similar and I had a strong sense of deja vue in some parts, especially in the first half of the book.
I loved some traits of Olivia but I wasn't a fan of any of the characters.
Gallant should be the equivalent of Manderley but, even if it was well described, it wasn't a character but a setting, a place.
The story takes speed and becomes gripping in the second half. I enjoyed this part and appreciated the storytelling and the world building.
I don't think it's the best VE Schwab book but I liked it.

This is a compelling and entertaining story but, if you are on the wrong side of 40 and more, it’s always a book about us and how we would like to be able to find a place where look at things from afar and, maybe, start something new.
Robin is a mother, an ex-wife, a friend. She’s involved in her daughter wedding plans, has to deal with her son, try to convince her best friend not to ruin her marriage.
She’s always considered in relation to someone else. Robin travels to her aunt home and maybe things will change.
It’s a character driven novel and I loved Robin, rooted for her and hoped for a HEA. I liked the characters and wished I could travel to a place like her aunt’s
It’s a heartwarming, life affirming, compelling, and entertaining novel. It’s a story that describes a lot of women and a story that a lot of women would like to live.
Susan Mallery delivers another novel I thoroughly enjoy and loved.
Highly recommended.

This isn't a book for faint of hear or squeamish people, it's a horror full of gore and action.
It's gripping but sometimes the overdose of gore cause a sort of paradox effect as it's so over the top.
The author can write a gripping novel and keep your attention alive even if this is not a perfect book as the characters are a bit under-developed and surely not on the polite side.
Recommended if you like very gorey horror.

I'm so happy this series continues and I will be able to read new adventures of Phee, Streetman, and the lady of Sun West.
This is as entertaining as expected, Phee is becoming more assertive and is in charge of the investigation.
It's a complex story and I had a lot of fun and read it in one setting. I laughed out loud when I read about Streetman and the Roomba.
I can't wait to read the next story.
Highly recommended.

There's potential in this series and I liked Melissa and the world building.
The book is a bit slow in the first part but when it takes speed it's entertaining and gripping.
I hope to read another story in this series soon.

A scary, gripping, and riveting story that kept me reading. I loved. It's the first book I read by this author and I appreciated the style of writing and the storytelling.
It's got the right level of creepy, good character development and a well developed plot.
