This the excellent start of a new historical mystery series. It's compelling, gripping, and well written.
Elizabeth is a fascinating character and I loved her character arc and how she started to live again accepting and managing her grief.
The historical background is detailed and well researched, the mystery solid and full of twists.
I loved the storytelling and can't wait to read the next book
Highly recommended.

A gripping, gritty, and well written historical mystery, the fourth in the Simon Westow series. I love Chris Nickson's series as there's a strong sense of the place (Leeds) and of the historical times.
There's not a whitewashed description, we are not spared the details of the life of the poors.
There are some very sad moments in this story and there's a a very well written mystery and a well researched historical background.
Excellent book.
Highly recommended.

I had a lot of fun in reading this story and I think it was the book I would have wanted to read at twelve.
It's not a perfect book when it comes to historical details but I don't think I would have cared.
It mixes fantasy, adventure, and ancient Egypt.
Theodosia is an interesting characters and I would like to read other adventures.

A twisted and dark psychological thriller set in the world of the 2%. Everything is perfect on the surface but there's plenty of secrets, jealousies, and complex relationship.
It's a well written, gripping, and well plotted story that kept me reading and on the edge.
Some parts requires a bit of suspension of belief but this didn't disturb me.

A gripping and riveting book about a woman who decided to live according to her own terms in a historical time when women role was marrying and having babies.
Vita is a well rounded and fascinating character, a strong woman ready to face difficulties in order to achieve her goals.
The plot is well crafted even if a bit slow at the beginning. Well researched and vivid historical background, great characters.

I liked The Recovery of Rose Gold, this one started in an exciting way even if a bit to violent for my taste. After the first chapters it stopped keeping my attention alive and I found it a bit boring.
There's plenty of potential and the author is talented but this one is not my cup of tea.

I was fascinated by the cover and the blurb, the book has potential but I couldn't care about the characters and the story fell flat.
