It's an entertaining and compelling historical cozy mystery, plenty of humour and a solid mystery that kept me guessing.
I had fun in reading this book and was glad to catch up with the characters, fleshed out and likeable.
The historical background is vivid but there're some anachronism.
I enjoyed this book as I enjoyed other in this series.

3,5* rounded up
I had fun and found this book funny and entertaining.
It's a mix of urban fantasy and rom-com, a sort of paranormal rom-com featuring witches.
The plot is a bit fluffy but I liked it and laughed a lot.
That said I think that some more character development would have helped as the characters seemed a bit flat and the one I preferred was Giz the cat.
I think it's a good book if you want to read something very light and funny.

This is not an easy or heartwarming read: it's dark, talks about people who died in a terrible war and in a terrible way.
There's no joy, no colour: only memories and questions.
This is one of the best books I read about the aftermath of WWI and one of the most impressive.
Great storytelling, historical background, characters and plot.
Highly recommended.

This is a funny, weird, and interesting book. It talks about a women who find herself in a cat body and a cat that shares her body with a woman.
As it was written before the pandemics it talks about a world we left behind.
Dolores, the women in the cat body, discovers that her family is not perfect as she thought, and she acts as she can. X and Dolores were two interesting characters, others were not likeable but all well written.
I liked the wry dark humour and the style of writing.

I found it entertaining and thought provoking but I also found it a bit entitled and preaching.
I live in a city but I spent part of my life living in the country and I know what it means not having central heating and other experiences.
All is good and great if it's a choice, it's less entertaining if didn't choose it.
The book is structured as a farmer almanac plus some very erudite quote and very funny experiences.
I enjoyed it even if I don't always agree with the author.

The first book in a new series it's always the one where we meet the characters, visit the setting and read about the first mystery being solved.
This is the first book in a new series and I enjoyed it, loved the fleshed out characters and the descriptions of the setting.
Cassie is a young woman who is recently lost her father and travelled to Fernandina to meet her aunt, the only living member of her family.
She's a complex character, I found her attemps to be a lady quite funny and appreciated the evolution of her character and how she investigates.
We meet a lot of characters in this story and I liked how they were developed. I was a bit confused at times due to the high number but I keep names and characters straight after a bit.
The historical background is well researched and realistic, the characters don't seem contemporary people in an old setting. They feel like they belong to their time.
The mystery is solid and I was surprised by the solution. My only note is that it sometimes took the backseat and it was a bit slow at the beginning.
I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading the next installment. This one, even with some issues, was a pleasant and entertaining story.

I liked this book but didn't love it even if it's a fascinating story, the characters are interesting, and loved the world building.
I had some issues with the pace that was uneven and there were some repetitions. I struggled a bit at times but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
I look forward to reading the next book.

This is one of the most original, fascinating, and well written mystery I read in some time.
It's one of those book you cannot classify as there's a mystery but it's also a story about learning to navigate the world and who you can trust.
Molly is young, quirky, and naif. She's alone in the world and her world is a hotel where she works as maid. An invisible even if she sees a lot and can see without being seen.
Is she a murderer or a victim.
The story is told by her point of view and we meet other people through her eyes and and quirky approach to reality.
It's a bit slow at the beginning but after a couple of chapters I was hooked and couldn't stop reading.
I loved book, loved Molly and loved storytelling.
Highly recommended.

I enjoyed it as it's engrossing and entertaining. Nice characters, good plot and a solid mystery.
Even if it can be read as a stand alone I think I would have liked it more if I had read the previous instalment.

This is a fascinating and very complicated puzzle, a mystery, the story of a man, and a book full of mirror and smokes.
The story is told using vocal messages and it took me a bit to be hooked as the transcription of the messages was sometimes a bit hard to understand.
I was enthralled by the story, the clues and the story of the inner-city kids and their travel.
I wasn't sure if what I was reading was reliable or if Steve, the main voice, was creating a possible story.
I loved this story that kept me guessing and I liked the final part.
It's a riveting and entertaining story.
Highly recommended.
