Robert Bryndza's Kate Marshall series is becoming a favorite and this one didn't disappoint.
A cold case, a twisty and fast paced plot that kept me reading and turning pages.
Kate and Tristan are two fleshed out and interesting characters, I loved to read about them and their life.
The mystery is solid, full of twists and turns, and kept me guessing.
Highly recommended.

The last instalment in one of my favorite historical mystery series! I was sad to let the Trucker and Jack go but happy to read the epilogue.
This is a dark, twisty and gripping mystery but it's also an excellent historical novel as the mystery is solved quite soon in the book.
It was as compelling and entertaining as usual. I read it slowly because I had to say goodbye to a series I loved.
An excellent story, highly recommended.

I was a huge fan of Magic in Manhattan and loved this spin-off
It's an entertaining and gripping story that kept me turning pages and I enjoyed catching up with characters from the main series.
Wesley was not a very likeable characters in the first half of the book: arrogant, entitled and grumpy. It's possible to see the under the mask but I wasn't a fan at the beginning.
I loved Jade and Sebastian and appreciated the character development.
The world building and the magic system are as good as always, the plot is well crafted and the storytelling excellent.
I can't wait to read the next book by this author.
Highly recommended.

A gripping, creepy and entertaining story in this excellent series.
It's a gothic novel, not a classic whodunit, and there're some moment which are borderline horror.
I was happy to catch up with Phineas, Annabelle and Toby as they are fleshed out and well written characters.
The plot is well crafted and I liked the different part and the dark story of a family and of the Cwellan Daunsen
I would have preferred some paranormal element to turn the story into a true horror.
I enjoyed it and it's recommended.

It's a good speculative fiction, well written and riveting: it's a fantasy but there's also a spiritual part that I appreciated.
It's huge book and, even if I think some parts were a bit repetitive, it never drags or bored.
The world building is fascinating and the mystery at the center of the story was the force that kept me turning pages.
Good storytelling and character development.

It's been a bit since last I read a Linley mystery and I was very happy to catch up with Thomas, Barbara and the cast of this beloved mystery series.
This is a an excellent mystery that deals with a tragic issue like FGM and I appreciated how the author dealt with this topic.
A complex plot, full of red herrings and twists. You never know who is to be trusted and the parallel plots make it even more complex. I didn't guess the culprit and appreciated the solution.
My only note: there's plenty of information and details. Some editing would have helped and made the story more gripping.

I had a lot of fun in reading this first instalment in a new series. I appreciated Beth, a middle age woman who is seeing her life turned upside down, and the humour.

A concise, informative, well researched and interesting book that made me learn something new.
It was a fascinating read as it goes back in time and made us learn how we came to tell some stories or some myths came into being.
Even if it's a concise read there're plenty of information.
