It's entertaining even if a bit dated. I think that the main issue was that there were no sources and I read it as a sort of paranormal mystery.

It should be a children book but I think it's more adult oriented as some parts could be a bit hard for children.
That said I liked it even if it's not the best WInterson's book.
Well written, humorous and full of food for thought.
It was an engrossing and entertaining read.
Recommended.

Ferry Market Lane is becoming a favourite series as it’s riveting and excellent.
The first book was excellent but this one is even better: life affirming, heart-warming and heart wrenching at times.
It’s a multi-layered story and you can read it as a sweet romantic story or as the story of a woman and her fight to overcome difficulties and find happiness. As there’re multiple layer it will up to you to read and follow the part that talks to your emotions.
There’s a strong sense of community but the author let us see glimpse of the darker side of these community: drugs, toxic relationships, broken families.
Star, the MC, is a complex and interesting character: she’s resilient, strong, generous but there’s also a softer side. She’s faulted but there’s also a strong sense of integrity and resilience, she’s a fighter who tries to do her best for her daughter and to achieve her goals.
The author did an excellent job in developing this character. The entire cast of characters is fleshed out and realistic.
The romantic part is sweet and I liked how it plays a part in the plot but it’s not the focal point.
I love how the author delivers a heart-warming story without sugar coating reality and doing an excellent job in describing the emotions and writing realistic dialogues.
I read it in one sitting as I couldn’t put it, I wanted to know what was going to happen and enjoy the atmosphere of Ferry Lane Market. The author is an excellent storyteller and I loved how she kept my attention till the end.
This series is strongly recommended, and it improves with each story.

It was my first meeting with Ann Patchett even if some of her books are on my TBR.
It was an intimate, fascinating and unforgettable meeting. I savored it reading some essays and than stopping because I didn't wanted to end this book.
The style of writing is amazing, she's a master storyteller and there's a lot of emotions, feeling, memories.
My favorite was the one about Snoopy and how she was able to analyze a pop culture character and turn it into the paradigm of a writer's life.
I loved every moment and it's strongly recommended.

It's been a long time since last I read a Kay Scarpetta story and I was happy when I was approved for this ARC.
The first part was fast paced and I couldn't put it down then there was twist that changed the book and it seemed a sort of sci-fi techno thriller, unfortunately not one the most exciting techno thrillers.
I have to admit that I skimmed the rest of the book and the solution was so rushed that I nearly missed the solution.
I hope that things will be better in the next novel.

An excellent start for a new cozy series. Unusual setting, quirky and well written characters.
It's perfect if you love gardening and art.
The mystery is solid, full of twists and kept me guessing. The characters are fleshed out and relatable.
Can't wait to read the next story.
Highly recommended.

This book should come with a warning, something like "You will not be able to put it down until you turn the last page". It's high on a "sleep deprivation" and fun scale.
The Holmes&Watson are very "canonical"and very original at the same time. All the elements of the canon are there and they work very well in a paranormal setting.
I thought this was going a sort of Sherlock Holmes vs Dracula sort of story but I was wrong and got more than I bargained. The Count Dracula is a sort of side characters but I got plenty of vampires (and some elements taken from other historical horror series).
The author did an excellent job in mixing the different world and making them fresh and original.
The plot is complex, there's plenty of unexpected twists and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It's a highly entertaining story that I strongly recommend.

This book made me travel to London and I was brought back to the times I started a trip from those stations.
I learned about them and their history. Great illustrations.
Highly recommended.

A creepy and gripping story, a great debut.
It's an excellent historical novel featuring a very complex and sometimes unlikable MC. The historical background is vivid and well researched and there's plenty of humour.
I loved the style of writing, the storytelling and the well researched historical background.
I hope to read other books by this author soon as I really liked this one.
Highly recommended.

I had a lot of fun in reading the fist book in this series and this one is even more entertaining.
We meet again Tansy and I loved how the author mixes her teen problems with being a vampire queen.
Lots of humor, excellent world building and good storytelling.
Highly recommended.
