This book could be classified as XXI snake oil story. Because it's the story of the raise and fall of a start up but it's also a clever and well explained story of what is happening in the world of start ups and venture capitals.
The story of We is crazy, full of hubris and inflated ego. The explanations about the financial parts are clear and made me learn something new.
An excellent and gripping book.
Highly recommended.

I usually love Karen Swan's books but I struggled with this one.
The descriptions of Costa Rica are amazing but the characters grated on my nerves and the story fell flat.
Not my cup of tea.

When you read a book written in the 40s you have to adapt to a different style of writing and a different way of thinking.
This is a typical example of a noir/hard boiled written in the golden age and there all the pros/cons of those books.
I loved it because it's an excellent book, dark and with a main character who is not likeable.
The descriptions of the Depression era are vivid, the characters are fleshed out and quite memorable.
There's plenty to love in this novel even if plot seems a bit too slow at times.
It was the first I read by this author and won't surely be the last as I loved it.
Highly recommended.

An enjoyable cozy mystery with an unusual setting (Australia) and an unususal heroine (a travelling celebrant)
I thoroughly enjoyed it as it's engrossing and entertaining.
Nice characters, a solid mystery that kept me guessing.
I can't wait to read another novel in this series.
Highly recommended.

A heartwarming, poignant and engrossing story that moved me, made me root for the characters and thoroughly enjoyed it.
There's hope, there's memory and there's a festive atmosphere.
The characters are relatable and fleshed out, the plot kept me turning pages.
Highly recommended.

I fell in love with the cover and liked the plot that made wish I could travel to Lapland.
It's a heartwarming, festive and enjoyable story that made me root for the character, feel the Christmas atmosphere and escape from reality
Good storytelling, likeable characters and a plot that flows.
The cover is gorgeous and fell in love with it.

The world of fandom is bizzare and a bit obsessive if you look at it from the outside. People is there because they share a common passion and some can go further as they are totally obsessed.
This story is about an unnamed person that becomes obsessed with a singer and the bizzarre simil cult she joins.
It's a gripping story even if it drags a bit at time. The ennui of the characters, the descriptions of her life are bit depressing but they are a good representation of her state of mind.
The plot is twisty and the last part surprised me.
It's the first book I read by this author and won't surely be the last.

This is a sweet paranormal romance, a relaxing and entertaining story that made me root for the characters.
I loved the world building and I loved the characters. The plot flows and kept me hooked.
I read other books by this author and they more action packed but his was so sweet and relaxing.
Even if it's part of a series it can be read as a standalone.

I'm a fan of Alberta and her family as they're quirky, relatable and fleshed out characters.
This is another compelling and highly entertaining story that made me laugh and kept me hooked.
There a bit twist as we get to know Alberta's estranged daughter and there's a solid mystery that will be solved with the usual cleverness and a high dose of humour.
The author is a good storyteller and did a good job in developing the plot and the characters.
The Italian is always a bit on the creative side but it always made me laugh.
Highly recommended.

As a lot of other people fascinated by Ancient Egypt I nearly never read anything about pre-dinastic and prehistoric Egypt.
I remember a mummified corpse at the Egyptian Museum in Turin and something in a National Geographic documentary.
This is a well researched and nearly academic book about Egypt before the pharahos and I was fascinated by the explanations and the descriptions of the archaeological discoveries.
It's not an easy ready but it's surely a fascinating one.
Highly recommended.
