I think there's a new wave of cozy mystery authors who are changing some of the paradigms and delivering more complex and riveting stories.
This is an excellent debut that kept me reading till late in the night. Fun fact: I wasn't supposed to buy it then I read the title in a facebook post and my gut feeling told me "Buy it".
My instincts were right as I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It's a character driven story and the characters are what made me love it. Brynn is grieving the loss of her husband, Nora and Izzie are two strong and fleshed out woman, Gideon is the uncle that choose to isolate himself.
It's a story of families: troubled by being the suspects and Brynn's choices, dysfunctional like those of the victim.
The mystery is solid, full of twists and turns and it kept me guessing.
My only note is that the world building is a bit lacking: we learn about witches, ghosts and something of the magical system but I would like to learn more.
Can't wait to read the next novel.

It's a mix bag of stories, it features some of my favorite authors but I was a bit disappointed.
some of them are quite good but they're like the start of a novel and you are left wondering what will be next.
Some are so enigmatic that you are left wondering what was the meaning.
Some are easily forgotten.
One moved me: Ramsey Campbell never disappoints.
I also love the one by Lavie Tidhar but I want to know what will happen.
Not my cup of tea.

I was hooked since the first line as it reminded me the start of De Maurier's Rebecca.
The book kept all the promises and it was an enthralling and gripping read, creepy and well written.
The plot is complex as there're multiple stories and different timelines. The author did an excellent job in keeping the plot consistent and easy to follow.
Excellent character development, good stortelling.

This is the first book I read in this series and won't surely be the last as I want to read the previous novels.
A riveting, highly entertaining and well written thriller featuring a strong woman, Eve Ronin, and plenty of humor.
I had fun, read it quite fast and think it's a page turner.

This is series is a rollercoaster of emotions and any book is a page turner that keep you on the edge.
Plenty of action, full of suspense, gripping and highly entertaining.
I love the relationship amongst the member of the teams, the excellent character development and the solid plot.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster and a gripping thriller.
The human side, the relationships are as important as the mystery part and the author did an excellent job in describing the grief and the strain as well as keeping me focus on the mystery.
Excellent storytelling and character development, a riveting plot that kept me reading.

Funny and full of dark humor, it made me laugh and kept me reading the farcical adventures of the characters.
I grew up Catholic and some of the characters are quite realistic even it may sound weird.
Full of dark humour it may not be everyone's cup of tea but it surely was mine.

There are plenty of Sherlock Holmes pastiches being published but this is the best I read so far.
Sherlock Holmes and Watson are "canonical" and they could have been written by a contemporary Conan Doyle. They are timeless and modern as it should be for this type of characters.
Mr Lovegrove is a talented storyteller and this story kept me turning pages and on the edge till the end.
All three terrors are bound by a common thread and all feature a paranormal aspect that could or could not be (no spoiler).
These a collection of excellent whodunit, and the reader is given enough clues to solve them.
Three gothis and eerie stories and I loved the style of writing and the gothic atmosphere.
A gripping and highly entertaining read.
