It's a sweet and festive story but I struggled a bit as I found it confusing, too many characters in a short story.
Not my cup of tea.

I don't know if it's a retelling of Jane Eyre but I enjoyed it, a good horror/paranormal fiction that kept me hooked.
Good world building and character development, a compelling and entertaining plot.

A very interesting and thought provoking book that made me reflect, feel angry and learn about how hard is being a black woman.
I liked how the author talks about very serious issues like racism, misoginy and how the image of black girls is reflected in pop culture.
An excellent book full of food for thought.
Highly recommended.

A fascinating and riveting story, a mix of fantasy/coming of age/magic realism with an African setting and an interesting cast of characters.
World building and character development are excellent, I had some issues with the storytelling as the plot does not always flows, seems to jump at times, and some important events just happen and there's no surprise.
It was a good read and I think there's a lot of potential.

A sweet, heartwarming, and festive story that made me smile and root for the characters.
I fell in love with the cover and liked the story that kept me reading and entertaining.
Great characters, a plot that flow, a lovely setting and a festive atmosphere.
Some parts require a bit of suspension of belief but I consider it a sort of Christmas fairy tale and enjoyed it.

3,5* rounded to 4
When I read the blurb I thought about "Younger" (the tv series, not the book) but I think that the author was able to deliver her own version of an older-woman/toyboy story.
i had fun and enjoyed it but I think that Seven Days in June was more mature and interesting.
It's a light story, some parts didn't age well and I think that the author is definitely better know.
Entertaining and fun.

A poignant, heartwarming and well written story, festive but also darker than the usual Christmas rom-com.
The author delivers a cast of fleshed out and interesting characters, an excellent plot that flows, and lot of emotions.
Highly recommended.
