A heartwarming, fun and entertaining Christmas novel that made me smile and escape reality in a good way.
The characters are fleshed out and relatable, the setting is lovely and the atmosphere festive.
It's the first book I read by this author and won't surely be the last.
Can't wait to read the next book.

I loved the first book in this series and liked this one. I enjoyed it and I like how the author developed the story and the characters as we get to know more about Vic and Adam's family.
The story is told by two POVs (Adam and Vic) and found the Vic part a bit complex and sometimes confusing.
The Adam part flows and is quite exciting.
I can't wait to read the next story as the book closes with a cliffhanger.

It's a riveting and entertaining story, fast paced and full of twist. A gritty and complex crime thriller that kept me turning pages and surprised me till the end.
I love Abby, a clever and complex character, and liked the storytelling but something felt off and I didn't fell in love with the story.
I think it's one of those "me-not-the-book" cases, maybe I need to read some other type of stories to avoid comparisons and a sort of "need a happy detective character" syndrome.
My personal problem apart, it's a good story that I recommend.

I recently read a new edition of "Ghost Stories of an Antiquary" by M. R. James and I was glad to read this story which is new to me.
The story is not scary but it's a good depiction of an age when supernatural was part of everyday life.
I like the MR James nots, the introduction and even try to read some of the original Latin text (my Latin is a bit rusty).
An informative, fascinating and entertaining read.
Highly recommended.

Informative, well researched and full of ideas and hints.
I loved this book as I'm a keen gardener and I loved how it helps you to garden in a way that is respectful of Nature and how it is related to the Wheel of Time.
Highly recommended.

I wasn't a fan of "Little Bookshop of Murder" but I liked this one as it's more complex and engrossing than the first one.
Summer is quite a complex characters, it's not the usual happy&relaxed cozy mystery heroine and she's grieving and suffering. I hope she will find a way to move on, I liked her better and she's slowly growing on me.
The dual time and the mystery are well developed and I couldn't guess the culprit.

I was attracted by the reference to gardening and I discovered a book that starts as an exploration of Orwell and gardening but it's more complex.
I learned a lot, it's full of food for thought and kept me turning pages.
It's an enjoyable book as the author is a good storyteller but it's also a book that can challenging at times.
Highly recommended.

This book made me think of Beatles' "A Day in the Life". It's lisergic, you never know where the plot is going and what will happen but I knew I didn't want to stop reading.
I'm not an expert of the Robin Hood lore, I know it's more complex and nuanced than what we usually think and that there's a mix of fairy tales and history.
Tidhar delivers a book that plays on the fairy side using it to give some of the most exciting part in the books. But he also talks about historical facts and the mix works.
Don't expect a standard fantasy book or a historical fiction: it's something more and it will bring you to some new places and to meet well known characters made new.
If "By Force Alone" was gritty and action packed, The Hood is more complex and a bit harder to follow.
I loved what I read but he's one of my favorite authors and this is an enthralling and fascinating story.
Highly recommended.

This book kept me turning pages as fast as I could as it's a riveting, bleak and well written historical mystery set in a very interesting time.
Mixing historical facts and fiction the author delivers a fascinating story featuring an unreliable narrator and a plot that involves politics and spy story.
I loved the descriptions of London, they were detailed and I was brought back in time.
I hope it's the first in a series as I'd love to read another story so well written and well researched.
Highly recommended.

I appreciated the fleshed out and interesting characters, the well researched and vivid historical background, and the solid mystery that kept me guessing.
