I always find hard to read about witch hunt and the women who were victim of that crazyness.
This is a well researched, engrossing and well written historical book that makes you understand what happened and what were the supposed causes.
An excellent read, recommended.

When I read the blurb I couldn't help thinking about Henry James' "The Turn of the Screw", a masterpiece I love, as it seemed to share some elements with that story (the nanny, the children, strange occurrences).
I was a bit skeptical but I was wrong because this is an excellent gothic novel that features some trope like "the haunted nanny" but the author was able to make them creepy and fascinating.
The plot is creepy, there's an eerie atmosphere, and the descriptions have a sort of dreamlike fascination.
Excellent storytelling and character development, a plot that kept me turning pages.
Highly recommended.

This is the start of a new cozy series and I think there's a lot of potential if if this one wasn't a favorite.
Even if I had fun I found that the characters were a bit too reckless and some details required a lot of suspension of belief.
It can become a good cozy series but this one wasn't my cup of tea.

3,5* rounded to 4
I was happy to read a new installment in this cozy series, catch up with the characters and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere.
I found it entertaining but I was expecting something more as the mystery seemed a bit rushed.
Entertaining but the not the best in this series

it's a book that talks about relevant topics like racism, the friendship between different women and it's one of those book that requires you to be patient because you will be rewarded.
There's plenty of food for thought and it's poignant but it's also very slow and it took more than 50% before I was feeling hooked and the gist of the friendship was showing.
i liked it even if it's not a favorite.

I always loved the Secret Garden but I didn't know about Frances Burnett's life.
This was a fascinating discovery of Burnett's life, gardens and what is behind The Secret Garden.
Great illustration, well researched and enthralling. I travel in time and space and learned something new.
Highly recommended.

I was attracted by the blurb but the book exceeded any expectations.
A mix of Japanese folklore and urban fantasy that kept me turning pages. It's dark, creepy at times, gripping and highly entertaining.
A fabulous world building, great characters and excellent storytelling.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Highly recommended.

This is the first William Warwick mystery I read and won't surely be the last as I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Jeffrey Archer is a talented storyteller and this story kept me reading as it's an unputdownable page turner.
Great and complex plot, fast paced, excellent character development.
Highly recommended.
