It's well written but I found it a bit too slow and the plot didn't keep my attention.
Not my cup of tea.

I was expecting something creepier and more on the horror side but this more of a domestic thriller with some folk horror aspects.
It's well written, I appreciated the storytelling but the story seemed rushed and the unreliable narrator (as the other characters) grated on my nerves.
Not my cup of tea.

It was a very creepy story that kept me on the edge till the end, better not reading it before sleep or be ready for some interesting nightmare.
The author delivers a gripping, twisty and well written story using a classing trope, the haunted house, and renewing it.
Great storytelling, character and world development.
Highly recommended.

As much as I enjoyed the story and the subplots I didn't like this book.
The world building is excellent, the plot flows but the sexism was a bit too much
Not my cup of tea.

A good mix of historical fiction and women's fiction, I appreciated the style of writing and the character development.
The historical part was well developed but I preferred the contemporary and Imogen's story.
Good character and plot development.

It was an informative, compelling and entertaining read that made me learned something new about Ancient Rome.
The author delivers a well researched and well written book, I appreciated the part about the moral models.

Even if it's well researched and informative I found it quite dreary and struggled.
I learned something more about the Mountbattens but it was a long list of facts.
Not my cup of tea.

A fascinating, sad, enthralling and well written story. A story of people and a sort of social history of England.
It's the first book I read by this author and thoroughly enjoyed it.
i loved the storytelling, how the story flows and you are involved in sadness, mysteries and different social environments.
Fascinating and well written.

This is a depressing and highly entertaining story about the world we are living in, PRs and political spin doctors.
Depressing because it's a bleak depiction of reality, highly entertaining because it's a darkly humorous satire and you cannot help laughing at the farcical characters.
The author is an excellent storyteller and this story kept me reading.

This is a complex, slow burning, enthralling and entertaining story that kept me turning pages as fast as I could.
It wasn't love at first page but after a few pages I was hooked.
The plot is complex, it kept me guessing and I was surprised by the ending. Sometimes there's a bit too much coincidence but it didn't stop me from loving it.
Great character development, vivid historical background and some lovely descriptions of San Sebastian.
