General Description: Charity has worked her way up to be the final girl at Camp Mirror Lake Terror Simulation camp. Charity knows the ins and outs of the camp. However, when the camp has to shut down early, Charity discovers that there might be more going on behind the camp than meets the eye. Can Charity truly be the final girl once the terror turns from simulation to real?

The goods:
- The pacing of this book was fantastic and I loved the audiobook narrator.
- You definitely get the creepy-crawlies/goosebumps during some scenes.
- The writing is extremely descriptive and you feel like you're there.
- The twists and turns were phenomenal, I saw nothing coming.

The loss of a half star:
- I feel like it was just too short. I wanted a bit more lore, a bit more character development, just a bit more everything!

Overall, if you like horror movies, I'd feel like you'd truly enjoy this book.

General Description: A young boy witnesses his uncle return from WW2. In the 1970s, this young boy created a comic dedicated with a superhero inspired by his uncle. In the present day, the comic book gets picked up to be made into a movie. Follow every step of the movie process and fall in love with every characters on the film (well..except one).

The good:
- I absolutely loved the chronology that happens in this book. You do hop through time, but overall, you can understand where you are.
- I loved the history you see in this, from WWII to the 1970s to the present day.
- I feel like you truly get to know the characters on a soulful level and truly care for them.

The loss of 1.5 stars:
- The full cast on the audiobook was not truly utilized and Tom Hanks did a lot of the talking, which made it a bit confusing.
- This book is almost 16 hours long in audiobook format and unfortunately it feels like that.

Overall, if you're looking for a book that follows the making of a movie where you want to see every aspect from every perspective, I feel like you'd really enjoy this book. Even if you enjoy movies, you'd enjoy the behind the scenes this book highlights.

Note: this is the 2nd book in a series, so there will inherently be spoilers in this review.

General Description: Signa finds herself at the center of another mystery, but this time, Blythe is there to help her. A duke was murdered and Blythe's father was framed. Signa and Blythe have to work together to find an answer; however, Fate enters the picture to finally get revenge on Death. Fate gets interested in Signa and Signa feels Fate may have something to do with the framing. What will Signa discover? Can Blythe's father be freed?

The good:
- Blythe's perspective was so refreshing, I loved hearing her voice.
- The additional ghosts added to Thorn Grove were great side characters.
- I appreciated the mystery and twists along the way.

The loss of 1.5 stars:
- I feel like this was a bit slower than the first book, which made it a bit harder to get through.
- The ending did confuse me a little but I think we'll get more answers in Wisteria.

Overall, if you liked Belladonna, I think it's a good idea to keep going, but I don't think it's as good as Belladonna.

General Description: After Riley steals a car to take her BFF to see a musical, Riley finds her punishment to be working in her dad's game store. When her ex-boyfriend walks into the store, Riley quickly says that she's dating her co-worker Nathan. Nathan is completely into D&D and not musicals, the opposite of Riley. However, the pair agree to fake date to help Nathan attract another girl in his D&D group. When their fake relationships starts to create real feelings, how will they navigate it?

The good:
- The pacing was great, I kept wanting to listen to the book, I could not take it out of my ears!
- Riley stays completely true to herself while learning about D&D. I love how much she talked about singing and musical theatre.
- The stakes in this book were very cozy and my heart just felt really warm the entire time reading.
- I really loved how Nathan grew to care about Riley, it felt very natural.

The loss of a half star:
- This felt on the younger side of YA, which didn't make as much sense since they were juniors in high school? It was felt a little disjointed.

Overall, if you're looking for a cozy YA romance, this fits the bill. I cannot wait for the next one!

General Description: Natalie Vos has an inheritance that will only be released once she's married. Her and the town loser who can't create good wine, August, decide that they can both benefit from the money of the inheritance. The pair decide to fake the marriage in order to get the inheritance. Will they be able to pull it off, or will they develop real feelings for each other?

The good:
- There are quite a few cute moments in their relationships development
- The flood scene tbh was one of the most heart pounding, intense scenes I've read in a romance book and it replays in my head every day.

The loss of 2.5 stars:
- Every cute moment ended with something cringy or just not appropriate for the situation. I wish I was exaggerating but I am not. it was EVERY. CUTE. MOMENT. ended in cringe.
- Again, I don't think Tessa Bailey's writing is personally for me.

Overall, if you were on the fence for Secretly Yours, you truly do not need this one.

General Description: Justin believes that he is the person before someone meets their soul mate. Every relationship he has had has ended and then they go on to get married. After Justin posts his issue on a Reddit thread, Emma finds it and realizes she and Justin have the same 'curse'. they agree to date in order to break the curse. However, once they meet in person, it seems everything has changed: Justin is going to be responsible for his siblings and Emma never stays in one place for too long. Will they be able to find common ground, or will the curse be broken and they'll be on their way to true love with other people?

ALL THE GOODS:
- Emma's backstory and mom added a layer of conflict to the story that I loved.
- Justin's backstory and additional responsibilities was a unique scenario that i have never read before and it made for some interesting points of discussion in the book.
- Emma's BFF was the best voice of reason I've heard in a book in a while.
- Seeing characters from the past books was such a fun tie in.
- The resolution in this book was magnificent.

Overall, you can read this book without reading the other 2 in the series personally and if you're not sure about Abby Jimenez, I would highly recommend trying this one. I truly feel like there was some magic put into this book.

General Description: Lucy's best friend Bridget leaves Toronto to go to Prince Edward Islands to freak out before her wedding. Of course, Lucy goes to comfort her. However, Felix, Bridget's brother, is also there. Lucy and Felix have had a connection every since a one night stand that neither of them realized was happening with the person that Bridget had been telling each of them about respectively. However, while they both feel they are betraying Bridget, that does not stop them. Can they leave their relationship alone to focus on Bridget, or will fixing their relationship have to come first?

The good:
- The book did tie up nicely with a bow which I always appreciate.
- Bridget, in my opinion, is the best character in this book and I wish we got a book focused on her, even if she wasn't perfect.
- The area of PEI was very well described and I felt like I was there.

The loss of 2 stars:
- I did not like Lucy or Felix at all. I feel like they had no respect for Bridget at all and it really turned me off to the book. While this is one bullet point, since I liked neither main character, it feels big enough to lose 2 stars.

Overalll, if you liked Carley's other 2 books, give it a try, but it was a departure from the other two books in terms of tropes and conflicts focused.

Please note: This is the 6th book in a series, so there will inherently be spoilers. Just read the whole series, I promise it's good!

General Description: Bobby travels to Zadaa to face Saint Dane with Loor. However, when the conflict comes down to both the Rokador and Batu losing life giving resources, Bobby realizes he can't keep riding Loor's coat tails for protection. Bobby has to grow into a warrior while trying to find the water that this missing from the Batu's lifestyle. Can Bobby have the rivers of Zadaa flow freely again?

The good:
- Bobby's growth as a warrior in this book is a wonderful character arc to read.
- Courtney and Mark's Second Earth plot thickens in this book and really starts to pull them into Halla as a whole, which I love.
- The plot twists in this book kept me on my toes the entire time.
- the ENDING of this book is probably the best cliffhanger in the entire series.

The loss of a star:
- This book felt the most clunky of all the books in the series. It was the slowest of the books, had quite a bit of unnecessary world-building, and I felt like I didn't enjoy it as much as the others.

Overall, if you've already read the first 5 books, don't stop at book 6!

General Description: In 1955, over 600,000 women turned into dragons with no explanation. Alex Green lost her aunt to the mass dragoning and every since, she's been curious as to what has happened. However, Alex's life takes a turn when her family is forced to take in her cousin, who Alex is brainwashed into telling everyone is her sister. After Alex loses her mother, she has more questions than ever related to the mass dragoning. Can Alex find peace with how her life has turned out or will finding the truth about the dragons be her only escape from her current life?

The goods:
- The idea of women turning into dragons was extremely compelling to read about.
- I loved how the story was chronological, it made it easier to follow.
- The underlying romance was really sweet to see how it eventually blossomed.

the loss of a star and a half:
- The writing was a bit more academic at points OR a bit not extremely straight forward? You have to make a lot of assumptions but not in a mystery solving way, just in a basic understanding way.
- There is NO CLEAR resolution in my opinion for one of the biggest mysteries in the book. The entire time I wanted that closure but did not get it.

Overall, if you're looking for a unique character driven book and are okay with a lack of closure/unanswered questions in a standalone, you'd probably enjoy this book! If you need a clear ending at the end of a standalone or don't like character driven books, this will not be the book for you.

General Description: Anna and Liam took advantage of some married student housing in college. However, when Anna thought the divorce was final, she finds out that Liam is one of the heirs to a massive inheritance related to a large grocery store chain. One of the aspects of Liam's inheritance is he must be married for five years. Liam's youngest sibling (and only sister) is getting married and it's time for his wife to make an appearance. Can Anna and Liam convince the family of their marriage, while navigating the relationship they are forming during this ploy?

The goods:
- Anna is such a fun FMC, even if she was a bit misguided.
- The premise reminds me of a reality TV show and I ate up every bit of it.
- The little cousins you meet and see Anna/Liam interact with were a sweet touch to an overall lighthearted book.
- I feel like the book wrapped up extremely nicely and the character progressions made sense, across the main and side characters.

The loss of a star:
- While I clearly love reality TV-like books, this book was a bit over the top and cringy at points, where I was taken out of the book and had to physically roll my eyes. I don't typically have this problem with books, but this one, it was laid on a bit too thick.

Overall, if you like reality TV like shows, this is a great book to pick up if you'd rather read about a Kardashian like family instead of watching one.
