The Reaper should be making deals with anyone? But they do say modern problems require modern solutions, so... maybe the Reaper's smart.
It's supposed to be sympathetic? But maybe it isn't? I'm not sure. I do get why it was doing what it did.
Why any of these people at the end didn't communicate their grievances the way Maggie did? The Reaper seemed accommodating.
Ethically, Maggie should be making that decision for everyone, but this is a personal move, not an ethical one.

I do like that the man wasn't a love interest or redeemable.

I quite enjoyed the beginning with its fantastical tone and good girl princess, though the mention of hotels' revolving doors did throw me off, but I'm starting to learn that Tamsyn Muir is full of anachronisms from the other reviews. It being 4 AM in the morning and having read several other Tamsyn Muir short stories and discovering that she does, in fact, commit to her horror in ways I need to stop disregarding and just assuming I can read, I scrolled through the other reviews to see if I should section it up by chapter or read it all in one go. Long story short, the reviews told me I would not, in fact, like or survive the book because I'm not someone who enjoys horror

I can't tell if he had feelings for her too or if she got over her own. And was her father aware something weird was going on with her, which is why he tried bridging the gap?

Also, the dead woman- iflife disperses pretty immediately after death and only her thighs have been cut up, doesn't that mean she's either useless now or will be useless if they don't eat her soon?

All in all, with all the time taken for cooking and everything, being a magician in this universe seems to be a Sisyphean task, what with all the time taken for cooking and everything.
