Wow. It was not what I was expecting at all. I did not dislike this book. It was good, different, unexpected. This is a story about Candace. She happens to live in a world that ends. I had trouble with the puncuations (it didnt use quotes when someone spoke) and I wasn't happy with the ending. I need closure. This book will not give you that. Read it if you're curious. It was worth my time.

I think this is going to be a good book series. I liked the world that Tracy Banghart created. It's not too far from the real world, but just enough that it can still be fantasy while being believable and relatable. I did get a little annoyed with a few of the predictable outcomes (Asa's manipulations were obvious to me) but I was still intrigued and my interests stayed in the story as I read. I am curious to see where the story goes from here. I can predict a few things... (Malachi will survive/Nomi will be guilt ridden for an annoying amount of time/Serina will continue to become a strong leader with Val at her side/they'll go back to overthrow Asa) But I'm hoping there will be twists and surprises. I look forward to the next book!

Typical love story but written very well. The main character couldn't see past the small world she grew up in, and that irritated me, thus 3 stars.

Love stories aren't usually my choice of reading material. This was a tragic love story. It took me a couple tries to read this book, but once I committed to it, it was a quick read. I'm not quite sure that I liked it, but that's a personal preference. It us a good book and worthy of 4 stars.

I FINALLY finished this book... I have to say, I didn't really want to finish it. I only got through it because I wanted to finish what I started and because I want to see the movie with the entire book in my head. The story did not follow a typical timeline, it jumped all over from the end of Chris' life to the beginning of his journey, to his childhood, and all over yet again... that bothered me since I like to be able to picture linear timelines rather than be confused as to what event happened when. Also, there were so many tangents in the book, I was put off. The author spent over 2 chapters writing about himself. Yes, there were parallels between his life and Chris' life, but it felt self-promoting rather than informative. Also, the multiple stories about other travelers and mountain climbers got tedious. To sum up my thoughts: I didn't enjoy this book. The story was intriguing and Christopher McCandless was an interesting person to read about, but this style of writing was not for me. I'm almost positive I will enjoy the movie more than I did the book.

I started this book probably 4 times. It took me awhile to really get it going and done. I really enjoyed some of the stories in this book, and others went for me. I think the only reason it took so long is because I'd finish a story, and I didnt have a continuing narrative to draw me back in. I recommend this book though. It really made me think about different ideas of worlds beyond our reality.

Very cute and fun! I loved the way the book was written with the phrases ser apart specifically speaking to the Reader and the playful descriptions of things such as "(This room had red wallpaper, red curtains, and red carpets-hence the name "Red Room")" and "(Yes, this does sound like a remarkably fast reply for the day, and it was. But Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington, possessed the fastest racer pigeons in all of England. One could say that they were almost supernaturally fast.)"

This book was a fun, imaginative retelling and I liked it. I was unprepared for the several "voices" in the book but Naomi Novick did well with keeping the narratives individualized. Some parts of the story seemed slow-paced compared to other parts.

I took my time with these stories. They were fun and interesting to read.

Awwww!!! The three stories in this book are all feel good, warm your heart, love stories and I'm happy with the way they came together in the end. While I can tell this is a teen romance that will be a favorite of girls in middle-high school, it was sweet enough for this almost 40 year old to enjoy as well.
