This story was NOT what I expected. The book went back and forth between the two MC’s. I kept expecting them to meet… but the book ended and they had not! I can’t wait to read the next book and see what happens. This world was similar and yet unlike our own. I saw parallels between our reality and this book, especially with the thoughts from the MC’s in that they both thought they were right and the other was wrong. Racism and classism were two main themes that were so similar to the real world, that is all felt relevant. The magic was so engrossing, and I wanted to know more about how it all worked. Heck, I wanted to HAVE the magic for myself! The romance between the two sets of characters was interesting and slow-burning without being boring or unsatisfying. I am excited to find out what happens next!

This story discussed sensitive topics in a wonderful way. The emotions were raw. The characters were interesting and getting to know Ciela and Lock-through their trauma, it was done so well. I really appreciated that the ending wasn’t just a typical “wrap it all up in a pretty bow”… it was realistic and comforting.
Maybe there were too many characters to track-or too much history- but for some reason I wasn’t as captured by this book as I expected to be. It was a great story, written very well. There were unexpected twists and really good storylines. I really liked the ending.
This book had some wonderful things to reflect on. I found myself reading a snippet- and then just thinking. I appreciate the way this book is laid out, and the images in each page were mindful themselves! I recommend this for anyone who doesn’t want to dig too deep into mindfulness, but need a reminder/refresher of things.
This story pulled at my heartstrings. Steffi grows in herself, and I loved that. I enjoyed getting to know her and watching as she found out about herself and became her own person!
This book started right into the story. Sometimes I don’t like when authors do this, but this was written in a way that was not confusing at all. It was not a hard storyline to follow. The timeline in the book goes back and forth, between memories and current time, as well as from person to person. In other words, multiple timelines are written. There was always something to help me to track which story was being told, and it was a great way to get to know all sides! The jumping helped the story to move along while explaining things as they needed to be told. The scenery and the worlds were so descriptive. I envision a beautiful word with magic, and I wish I could visit! The characters are quite interesting. Taylor is a strong willed woman, and she isn’t afraid to show it! Lucca… I still don’t know how I feel about him, but I like his loyalty - to both his country and Taylor (although I could get into his choices about which to favor… I won’t. Just know that o think choosing his country was the right choice.) Marcelous is giving me some red flags… but I won’t get into that in order not to spoil anything! Felix is hilarious and so is Zerz! I hope we get to know them better in the next book. Also, Vaira is awesome and I want her to be my friend. There were so many moving parts to the plot of this story. It was well written and that ending was intense! Book 2 is going to be amazing!

So I haven’t read a book that fast in a very long time! I adored the friendships and “found family” in this book! The representation was phenomenal because it explained everything very naturally and really fit into the story. It was the perfect mix of superhero, friendship, teen angst with some confusing emotions and funny situations/banter. I really enjoyed this book and want to read the next one right away!

This was a great end to this trilogy. I really enjoyed the relationship between Kell and Lila and how that progressed. The sweetness that I saw from Alucard… while it wasn’t expected it fit him very well. The bad guy was a great bad guy, and I feel this wrapped up well overall.
