I received an e-arc for an honest review... and I honestly loved this so much more than I expected to! The story was engrossing and surprising. The characters were realistic, with all their emotions being explained in ways that felt authentic. There were wonderful sibling relationships between the Amberwood siblings as well as the Shaw brothers. The story was told throughout the book from the point of view switching between Victoria and Elijah, and this really helped me to commiserate with both characters, despite them being on opposing sides to the plot. I found myself siding with both characters, even though they conflicted. The Amberwood siblings pursue a complex revenge scheme, but it did not feel overly done. There were twists and changes that occurred that felt authentic and not forced. The ending of this book left me happy! I felt that it was satisfying and justified... but I was also left wanting for more.

I was gifted an e-book on A Land of Never After and I am SO grateful! This was an amazing retelling of Peter Pan... with a twisted dark take on the classic story. This was a short novel, and it really packed a lot in! I loved the creepy atmosphere and the gory curse. Peter and Wendy were wonderful characters that I really rooted for, and I can not wait to read about their continued adventures in the next book! The way Hook was portrayed, his family tree, and how it all worked together into the plot was amazing. It felt so perfect that I think this retelling was better *gasp* than the original! PLEASE read this book and fall in love with it like I did!

First off, the narrator was gorgeous. That voice!!! Now, the story… epic seems too small a word to fully express this entire world. The characters, the plot, the subplot, the lands and beliefs… it was all so much and so amazing. I loved following along with Gabriel’s story as he told it, and every time he refused to finish telling something-and instead skipped to another timeline-I got just as frustrated as Jean-Francois seemed to. The way Gabriel laid out his tale, by telling just enough to keep the listener hooked, was written so well. The twists and turns flowed well and nothing seemed forced. I can’t imagine the next book being as good as this… but if anyone can write it into being-Mister Kristoff can.
This is a short book, but it is so full! Each story left me wanting more. I needed to know what else happened! I actually went back to the first story after I’d read the whole book. I felt like I missed something important-but really it was just that the stories all left a sense of wonder. I feel like they were all connected… but maybe it was just the amazing writing! I can completely picture each of these stories being made into individual tv episodes on a show something like Black Mirror… I loved this collection of stories and highly recommend it to anyone who likes a little creepiness and wonder in their stories!
