I definitely wasn’t as crazy about this one as the first one. I had a lot of issues with the sexism. I understand that this is supposed to be a new world based upon old world Christian values, but it still bugs me a lot.
I also had issues with how many people were just so complacent with their living situation, with how even the gods barely knew how to protect themselves. It was really frustrating hearing that.
My other big issue was the repetition. I swear, 50% of this book was just a rehashing and retailing of the first book. There really wasn’t much point in the whole book, other than the two main characters falling in love and a bit of a love triangle thing going on that was boring.
That being said, I do want to see how the end of this trilogy comes out, and I already have a hold for the next book. We are like 3 1/2 stars.

I greatly enjoyed this and can’t wait for the second book to come into my library!
First, thank you to booksirens.com and the author for my e-copy. All opinions are my own.
So- I love the premise of the book, and it has the makings of a great series. It was proofread well, but could have benefitted from a more thorough editing.
Being a novella, it’s difficult to connect with any of the characters, and all the scenes were rushed, vague, and confusing. Random facts pop up occasionally, crucial to the story but with no foreshadowing, making the plot feel unrealistic.
The MC acts way too grown up when she’s 7 and incredibly immature when she’s 17 - but other than that, she’s just a poor (oh so poor! I’m so poor! Poor me, I’m poor!) but yet perfect, with skills no one else has.
Really, if it wasn’t for the premise, I’d only give 2.5 stars.

I was just not a fan.
I felt the author jumped around a lot, was very repetitive in places, and sometimes went off on tangents in the middle of a chapter.

This is my first five star review of the year.
I don’t know why this book took me so long to read, except for the fact that I basically just kept forgetting about it. It was quite enjoyable, and I enjoyed the three different points of view. This surprised me because I do not like books written with alternating points of view.
I really enjoyed the world building in this book, that was really missing from the first one. I also felt like the characters were flushed out a lot more than any of them were from the first book.

Great enjoyable read! I loved the characters and the pacing.
Eh. It was alright, nothing unique
This was a great read! I definitely liked this one more than I thought I would.
Overall, I enjoyed the book, though all the battle scenes got tedious. I think the author realized that too because by the end, the characters were just mentioning odd battles, instead of seeing multiple scenes.

Finally sat down & finished rereading!
