TW: racism, death, some body horror, infidelity, abuse, neglect of a child, death(?) of a child, familial asstrangment, some body horror, controlling relationship.

This was sold to me as an adult fiction to read if you loved Encanto, and honestly? It fits that perfectly. Magical realism, humour, family bonds.

Despite all this I found it slow paced at times, with lots of repetition when if came to certain emotional drivers of the characters. We are repeated again and again why x character is angry at y character, or that x character still is physically attracted to y character despite his horrible nature. This just made the naritive drag for me.

TW: Toxic masculinity

So much packed into Tayi's poems, from culture, identity, feminism, toxic masculinity, and the intersections of all these things. Tayi's style is so singular and unique to her. A marvel.

TW: EVERYTHING, transphobia, deadnaming, misgendering, dysphoria, forced detransition, murder, death, rape, violance extreme gore and body horror, fascism, TERF ideology, cannibalism, misogyny, mentions of HP author (it was one sentence), fatphobia, the sp*z slur (not called out) , and A WHOLE LOT O' SEXY TIMES

This book is going to sit with me forever. The absolute brilliance that GFM has interpreted all these themes and experiences into one cohesive and horrifying story is nothing short of a masterpiece. And this is my absolute most favourite book cover to ever exist on this planet.

TW: ableism, abuse, mentions of suicide and suicide ideation, self harm, ptsd, trauma, mentions of ABA (called out as wrong

TW: None

Sarah Anderson never fails to please with her signature style of humour and art. From laugh-out-loud to just adorable and heartwarming, each of these comics is honey to my soul. A perfect dose for the more creepy-loving fan of her Sarah Scribbles comics.

TW: mentions of ABA, ableism, emotionally abusive relationships, Hans Asperger (called out), eugenics, death, bullying, suicide attempt by family member, suicide ideation

Definitely one of my top books for 2022, and one that's resonated with me personally on a deep level. Bastow's writing is clever, funny, insightful and never ever dull. She masterfully covers each topic and part of her life with such flowing ease.

TW: homophobia, transphobia, racism, bullying

A well paced mystery where you are drip fed only so much information that makes you hungry for each bit you find. A super important book about connections and finding self and your allies.

TW: death, murder, blood, suicide, suffication, infertility, infidelity

I LOVED this book! Not only is it hilarious, but the mystery is top notch and does not disappoint. Twists, turns, and all tying into each plot line with brilliant jokes, callbacks and self-awareness.

TW: racism, police brutality and power abuse, emotionally and physically abusive relationships, infidelity, stalking, murder, death, drugs

Daaaang
An absolute thriller that isn't just fiction. This is raw, rough and absolutly chilling to the bone and brain.

TW: parental seperation/divorce, near drowning, being outed by another person

A super cute take on the selkie lore and a great message. I'm not the biggest fan of the art style but that's subjective. I also felt sometimes the message was a bit muddied, but still a good one.
