TW: racism, death of a parent, religious persecution
I loved every aspect and idea of this book, especially the exploration of history and legends that is never told in the west. It felt a bit too exposition heavy at times with a lot more telling than showing when it comes to telling that history.

2.5
TW: fatphobia, death
Note: this review comes from a non binary person.
This was the most general 'fine' I think I've given in a while. It was a great exercise when it comes to rethinking your mental expectations of gender when you hear 'guard' or 'nurse maid', etc. I really liked that.
However there was a lot further this could have gone. And while the book never changed anything from the genders (and for some reason changing Rapunzels hair to a beard?) for a very explicit purpose to explore gender expectations, it just didn't feel creative enough to stand alone.
The forward I appreciated of the compiler of the collection, especially mentioning trans and non-binary people, I felt the bragging of the 'special algorithm a bit laughable, considering the changes it made could be done with a simple word editor and the "replace x with y" tool.

I love fiction that teaches you about RL history, especially the obscure, and Pulp delivers that in spades! I'm now obsessed with this bit of queer history!

TW: animal testing, misogyny
An utterly poetic and well written graphic novel that truly highlights Rachel Carsen's life without ever feeling rushed, despite the limited space. Beautiful art and colouring took it even farther.

Not #ownvoices as far as I can tell, but had great moments with dyspraxia experiences, but often veired into insperation p*rn and "work hard and overcome it!", but luckily that had equal moments of positive rep, like teachers allowing for laptop use since handwriting is so difficult, etc.
TW: sex, religious abuse and conversion therapy, infidelity, death of parents, underage drinking and drug use
Being a queer mess that I am I expected to enjoy this, but honestly? I hated it. I kept waiting for something to happen, the plot from the blurb to actually appear. It was slow, with most interesting plot points (what few there were) just dropping off and never getting resolved. What hapened to Mike? Erin? Her grandmother, or Ruth? Just a incredibly frustrating read.

Pretty much what it says on the tin: a funny and cute Alice in Wonderland manga, but what makes it special is its incredibly queer over and undertones. Loved the many pansexual characters!
