TW: bullying, homelessness and lack of food, internalised ableism
I really enjoyed this easy read of a book, especially it's duel focus on dyslexia and horses (including history of the great depression and Seabiscuit). Loved the side characters too.

TW: pandemic, blood, death, murder, police brutality, incarceration, transphobia, misgendering, being kicked out of home, arson, mentions of sexual assault
Great social commentary with a heavy emphasis on juvenile incarnation in a pandemic. Great enby as well as non-speaking autistic rep with quite a few moments of gut punching emotion.

TW: antisemitism, murder, death, starvation, family seperation, concentration camps, nazis
A really great jump off point to give a summery of WWII and how the Holocaust began. Though it is a bit disjointed, if covers a LOT of different aspects of the war in a reverent but raw way that's appropriate for very young readers or those wanting a summery of events to act as a base line for further research.

TW: Toxic and manipulative relationship, abuse death, murder, drowning.
A solid 3.5 stars. Great concept with brilliant disability rep and commentary on toxic relationships. Let down by slow pacing and loquacious commentaries regarding the protagonist's reasoning.

(Massive) TW: physical abuse, abusive relationship, manipulation, controlling behaviour, food shaming, absent parents, ableism, ableist language and labels, bipolar rep that is not positive, sexual harrassment, blood, misogyny, stalking
Massive trigger warnings for this, but while it has flaws I think its a super important book to help people learn about how abusive relationships can start and their base of manipulation and fear.

TW: death, blood, war, war crimes, eati g of a pet horse, abuse, abandonment, homophobia, romance between first cousins
Though not written in verse this book is poetic, with ever-changing styles in style, timeline shifts, and prose. Four stories that merge and flow between each other that really are an experience to read more than the story at times.

3.5
TW: mentions of past youth pregnancy, trauma, grief, fatal disease
A small and simple story about change and how we all handle grief differently. While nothing much happens, it reflects just how slowly our lives can, but inevitable do, change, and how we handle it.

TW: dystopia, eugenics, slavery, slurs used against lower class people and other similarities to real life treatment of enslaved people (which the author seemed to incredibly not put two-and-two together on) death, blood, vomit, infidelity, sexual assault and attempted rape, internalised misogyny
3.5 stars
A clever play on the YA dystopian genre, though the dystopia in this world is very much everyday life for people of color in our reality and that honestly should have been picked up on before publishing. It was very white-centric and lacked any sensitivity on the topic in the writing or editing process. The very white cast could not wait to escape and get home to where "all are treated equal" (these girls are from Briton for Pete's sake). Book would easily been better scored if this huge elephant in the room had been hearded out first.
Great multiple twists though and quite good characters.

TW: fatphobia, casual transphobia and racism
I ended up DNFing this at 43%. I kept waiting for the plot to progress but any progress came so incredibly slow.
The main reason I dnf'd was the constant fatphobia when it came to the Aunties. Never where the mentioned or brought up without their weight or eating habits described, mention, or joked about. Frankie even said he was so disgusted by their bodies he refused to swim with them because he'd see them in their bathing suites.
Fat people deserve the same basic respect and kindness as every other person, and to swim, eat, and freakin' exist without people judging and shaming them.
All in all I was quite disappointed.

TW: divorce, ableism
Stunning and beautifully written with a very relatable plot (as someone with ADHD). Each poem was perfect-conveying the emotion of each moment in Gabby's life.
