the talking doorknocker is annoying. there’s a lot of inconsistencies and the writing is sloppy. in the first book they made a point of mentioning there’s no librarians but now this book there’s librarians everywhere.
the aelin reveal was obvious and i had guessed way back when they first mentioned cause i swear she mentioned it in the first book.
nehemia’s character arc is disappointing
chaols character consistently pisses me off and also i still don’t know how to pronounce his name- is it kale? kay-ol? cha-ol?
also the portal scene is so strange and seems inconsistent with the world somehow. like it’s just bam magic. and somehow gives off a cartoony vibe? not great

if aelin doesn’t get a new man each book i’m gonna stop reading she’s really collecting them like infinity stones.
lol this book sucks i can’t believe i gave it 5 starts last time. the character are so flat and the plot is nonexistent. essentially everything that happens in this book does not matter. only in the last 50 pages do things happen and set up the next book.
switching between 4 perspectives was so brutal and i could not care less about anybody but aelins plot line but even that was so repetitive.
i also abhor the weird mind talk rowan and aelin share and also the weird shows of dominance the fae do.
also aelin has so much trauma and down was absolutely the worst to her consistently. and i dunno why she loves chaol so much when he is also the worst.
the seen with the valgs was 100% stolen from harry potter but poorly written. a combination of dementors and the resurrection stone but not as meaningful. this book sucked but a girl on the train told me to push through cause they get really good so i’m holding out for u girl i met on the train👌🏻

I think this one was the best one yet. It was sorta slow and annoying when it switched between characters every chapter but Caelena’s chapters were so exciting that it was worth it.
