eh romcom
thought it would be more hallmarky but it was very slow burn with barely any relationship
a girl from Birmingham gets laid off from her library position and decides on a whim to buy a van in the scottish highlands and start her own bookstore. this is dearly needed in the remote highlands and helps bring the community together. meanwhile she falls in love with a man who drives trains through the town she’s renting in and eventually also falls for her highland farmer landlord
slow-paced

very boring, too polite
only follows his divorce of his first wife and then quick marriage and birth with Anne Boelin
ends with a prediction that “the following kings and queens will be great 👀👀👀”
dark fast-paced

wow 10/10 this one was dRaMa

richard is the younger brother of King Edward IV. king edward is ill and dies and richard murders their younger brother and then also edward’s two sons (the lost princes) and then he also murders pretty much everyone in the court that opposes him. he is eventually given the throne after lots of murder and manipulation and then he forces a widow to marry him but gets bored and kills her so he can marry his niece (the lost prince’s sister). It ends with a battle where Richard is finally slain by Richmond who inherits the throne as King Henry VII.
fast-paced

this one was actually pretty good
lots of intrigue and drama as the court goes haywire

King Henry VI is being usurped by the Duke of York’s son King Edward who sucks. It goes back and forth of King Edward being on the throne and then having to run and lots of battles but King Henry VI is consistently imprisoned. Queen Margret his wife gets an army together from her home country France and does some damage to King Edward. Meanwhile Richard, King Edwards brother is scheming for the throne. After much back and forth Richard finally takes it into his own hands and kills King Henry VI and his son Prince Edward thus ending the threat. He then plans to murder his brothers and get the crown.
slow-paced

this one was also very boring
it finally got a bit exciting at the end with the conflict between red roses and white roses which i’m assuming meant royalist vs anti monarchy or maybe henry iv supporters vs new king people but i don’t really know

l the rest of the book was boring political things and murders

yet again pretty boring
this one had Joan of Arc and also some more interesting love plots and a father and son scene that was sad an cute
