slow-paced
yet again not great
had disclaimers in the form of Chrouses in front of every act saying that it’s not great and the audience needs to use their imagination lol
also there was an entire scene in french so i’m curious how many people actually would have understood that back in the day
however this is the first play i think past the Bechtel test (the french scene of the princess and her maid discussing english words)

similarly boring
follows Henry IV but mostly his son Henry V
nothing happens in this one
King Henry IV dies
it ends with an epilogue apologizing about the play and it that isn’t a red flag i dunno what is, at least it’s self aware

follows King Henry IV’s son Hal(Henry V). He hangs out with thieves a bunch and does thieving things but is eventually called back to court. There is an uprising. against the king that a bunch of sir’s are leading. They battle at the end. Hal offers to do a one on one battle to solve it instead of needless war but the advisors don’t tell this to the uprising so the battle occurs anyway. The uprising looses.
I think this is the same plot as the move The King on Netflix but without the french Robert Pattinson.

honestly should be called Henry IV Prequel cause Richard is barely in it.
it begins with King Richard solving a dispute between his uncle gaunt and that uncles son, Bolingbrook aka Henry IV. i dunno why they were fighting but Richard decides they should battle to the death but then calls it off. He then banishes both of them. Then Gaunt dies and on his death bed tells Richard how he’s a bad king and Richard is glad he’s dying. Henry IV returns after hearing of his fathers death. Richard for some reason decides to go to Ireland and conquer it but they never resolve that plot lol. When Richard returns Henry IV has conquered all of england and the welsh army has dispersed leaving Richard defenseless. Richard hides in a castle and Henry asks for his banishment to be lifted and then decides he also wants to be king. Richard begs for his life and Henry says ok but then one of his court men kills Richard anyway. A plot to kill Henry arises but a father thwarts his son and saves Henry.

apparently this book came out before Heartstopper and was slightly adjusted and republished after it. It follows Tori Spring, Charlie’s older sister, set during Vol 4 of Heartstopper. There are quite a few nick and charlie moments which are cute
This books heavily deals with mental health issues. The main character is an unreliable narrator due to her mental health issues and is extremely depressed and su*cidal. Charlie also has a relapse in this book.
The plot itself is absolutely bonkers. It had a mystery revolving around an entity that is organizing dangerous pranks at school but it also follows Tori as she slowly builds and breaks relationships and navigates her mental health.

Shakespeare characters really just never recognize each other and i’m really over that trope
that and the mysterious potion that makes people appear dead is just too overused

pericles prince of tyre is visiting a nearby kingdom but discovers a plot to murder him so he flees the kingdom and leaves a trusted man on his throne. he voyages across the sea and brings grains to a starving kingdom. then he departs again but is caught in a storm which wrecks his ship. he is picked up by fisherman and brought to another kingdom where a tournament for the princess’s hand is occurring. he wins and they marry and they become pregnant. they decide to voyage back to Tyre but on the voyage the wife has the baby, Marina, and then dies. they have a funeral at sea and the body turns up at a temple of diana where they somehow nurse her back to health and she’s no longer dead and lives out her life in the temple. then pericles leaves his new baby with the grain kingdom and asks them to raise her and he heads back to Tyre. 14 years pass, don’t really know why he left her that long, but Marina is now being targeted by the grain kingdom that she is living in but while the murder is about to happen she is kidnapped by pirates and taken to an island and sold to a brothel. In this brothel she somehow talks every suitor out of it and eventually meets the governor. Pericles hears of his daughters supposed murder and goes into mourning but visits this island by chance and happens to meet her and realize it’s his daughter he hasn’t seen in years. He then gets a vision from Diana to go get his wife from the temple (which is honestly unrealistic Diana behavior) and he does and the whole family is reunited huzzah
honestly what a trip
also each big section had a man explaining the year gaps via rhyming couplets which was just awful

i love VE Schwabs books but this is decidedly a kids book. it was still really well written and a fun little story but not as enticing and intense as her other novels.
follows the story of a girl who was saved from a near death experience and can now see ghosts. Her parents are ghost hunters and move her from the US to Edinburgh, the most haunted city in the world, where she goes on an adventure
