These books are so much better than I expected. I went in not expecting much (they're written by an actor and for children - what were you expecting?), but I love them so much! And the ending was just wonderful. I love positive lessons and messages in books, and these deliver.

Like, Unit, I forgot like how thingie - how meg this thing is.

I forgot how much I loved this book. I remembered how much it impacted me because I spent years trying to find this book (and in doing so, found [b:Feed|7094569|Feed (Newsflesh Trilogy, #1)|Mira Grant|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1408500437s/7094569.jpg|7351419] which is an amazing series!) because I couldn't remember the name of the book or the author. I was searching descriptions and other crazy shit.

Then I found the name of the book. And finally got to finish it. The first time I read it, I was substitute teaching (basically sitting in a classroom while the student teacher taught) and I wasn't able to completely finish it. So I wrote down the name and author so I could hit up the library later that week - and promptly lost my note to myself. Yeah...

Finally, a few years later, I was doing another search for the book, and got lucky! This book is incredible. Amazing. Meg. Youch. I love it. Last week, a friend was asking for book recommendations and I wanted to recommend this book. So naturally, I had to read it again. So worth it.

I think it qualifies as a Utopian Dystopia, right? Right.

A nice supplementary book with an interesting faction quiz. According to the quiz, I'm a pretty even split between Candor and Erudite, which I expected. :-D I did love the favorite books listed in the interview and the Litany Against Fear quote from Dune.

To start, I'm not a huge fan of Hillary Clinton. She just rubs me the wrong way. It's not that she's a woman, though, it's that she's a politician. Most politicians give me that same "eh" vibe and just aren't my cup of tea.

Reading this book, though, changed how I feel about her a bit. I do feel (and felt during the campaign) that she would have been a fantastic president. She definitely would have been better for our country than Trump. Even if she accomplished absolutely nothing as president, she would have been better than Trump who is actively hurting our country.

I think that if everyone were to have been able to connect with Clinton the way that this book allows people to connect with her, that there wouldn't have been an issue about whether she "wanted to be president for the right reasons" which is something I heard a lot down here in Louisiana. I think she would have won the popular vote by more than she already won and would also have won the electoral college (When are we demolishing that, by the way? What happened to one person, one vote?! The electoral college weights an individuals vote unnecessarily based on where they live.), too.

I was impressed throughout the book with how she took ownership of the loss, though. You hear constantly that she's "making excuses" for why she lost, but she really hasn't been. And she doesn't in this book. She literally has explained to multiple interviewers "this affected the situation, and this, but it was my job to get through that and I didn't" and she does the same in the book. "Yes, all these issues factored in to my loss, but I was supposed to cut through that and I couldn't."

I'm a bit more of a Clinton fan now that I've read the book. I do wish she would have left a lot of the God stuff out because that really does come across (to me, at least) as pandering, but maybe she really is that religious. Seems silly coming from such a highly educated and intelligent woman, but I'm aware of the necessity of politicians to at least appear religious (if not actually be religious) to the public masses.

Such a good book!!! It was a wonderful follow-up to the first book and I couldn't stop reading it! I had to a few times, unfortunately, but it was so good! And even better, as good as it was, it perfectly set up the next book! I can't wait! <3

Why do I do this shit to myself? #FuckTrump

So, I'm giving the book three stars because I don't know what else to give it. Some of it just sounds blatantly false, most of it sounds like exactly what we would expect of Trump based on his public behavior. I'm reminded of Miss Trunchbull from [b:Matilda|39988|Matilda|Roald Dahl|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388793265s/39988.jpg|1015554]; she's violent, crazy, and is willing to enforce insane punishments for minor infractions because the parents are less likely to believe that the Headmistress threw a child by her hair than if she gave the child a detention for something which shouldn't have required punishment at all. Is Trump a real life Trunchbull? Maybe.

Blecgh. Okay, so I read the book and want to burn it. What now? Well, I'm hopeful that we can overcome, as a country, having such a psychotic president and continue to move forward and make our world better as we have steadily been doing over the many years. (Look at the numbers - things have been getting better over time. It just takes time.)

This was a disturbing read. It provides a brief insight into the mentally declining state of a woman being driven mad ostensibly by wallpaper, but really her husband.

I finally read this book (and watched the show) because of Crash Course Literature ( https://youtu.be/PubyDwbNqYA ) telling me that it's exactly the sort of book I love! Thankfully, it was!

I actually kept putting this book down, though, because with our current political climate it seems like too many humans that I know (personally know, mind you) would see this type of society as a goal rather than a negative. It disconcerting to say the least.

Wow... This woman is incredible!!

I went into this book knowing two things about her: she was a comedian and she put the word "unicorn" in her book title. Now I want to watch her comedy show, follow her on social media, and finally watch Girls Trip which I've yet to see because she is incredible!

Sooo good!! I can't believe it took me this long to finally read this book. I'm going to hold off a bit on reading the second book because the third book isn't yet out (April, I think?), but I'm definitely looking forward to it! 😻😻😻
