DID NOT FINISH

I love the idea of this book even though I'm not a horror fan, but the graphic descriptions of various things were too much for me. And really, that's why I tend to steer clear of horror.

It's been a while since I've read Eragon, but I still enjoyed the adventure and meeting the characters. The narrator does a weird voice for Saphira, though. When she first mind-speaks to Eragon her voice is described as "deep and clear" which is fine, but he does this crazy gravelly painful to listen to voice. Maybe that's how the author heard it in his head, but it's weird to me.

Oh my Nokley, I took a trip down memory lane with these graphic novel adaptions.

As always, Eragon's tale is fascinating and entertaining. While his elves and dwarves follow many of the "usual" stereotypes, they're not poorly done and I greatly enjoy them.

This is an excerpt from my review on my site here: http://alyshadeshae.com/2012/01/06/inheritance-by-christopher-paolini/

The very worst thing about this book is how many times I’m going to have to reread it in order to feel I’ve absorbed enough of the story.

The very best thing about this book is how well Paolini stuck to his story and didn’t make lame changes to make certain readers happy.

I definitely loved the brief insight into the world of Alagaësia after the original books ended.

My full review is here on my personal website. I'll post a few excerpts here, though:

4.5 out of 5.0 stars

The very worst thing about this book is that I spend most of the time comparing it to Harry Potter because of what tons of people/reviews said about it being “the next Harry Potter,” which it isn’t. Or wasn’t considering the length of time the book has been out. To call this book/series another Harry Potter is to do it a disservice. When compared to Harry Potter, this book fails miserable, but only because it succeeds spectacularly in a different way. Doesn’t make sense? Read the book! :-p

The very best thing about this book is the mythology! I know, Riordan doesn’t always get it right, but that doesn’t bother me one bit! I love this book and happily reread it when I think it’s time.
