It's been a while since I've read this book, but as an audio book it didn't feel as powerful as the written text. I definitely enjoyed listening to the book and the narrator was fine, but for some reason the "oomph" of this novel seemed lessened. Probably it's because the entire point of this book is that society is leaving books behind, censoring books, banning books, and in the end even making books illegal. It seems like a bit of a sellout to listen to a book with that message even though it's message is still coming across. Is that silly?
The Founding Myth: Why Christian Nationalism Is Un-American
Susan Jacoby, Andrew L. Seidel, Dan Barker
I would be lying if I didn't say I knew the basics of this topic, but hearing so many of these proofs laid out so clearly and easily was delightful. It was such an interesting book that I had trouble putting it down whenever I needed to do something.
This book was somewhere between sweet and strange. The subplot of the reality show and NASA drama was odd, but I enjoyed it overall. Enough so that I immediately picked up another book from the same author.
This book came recommended by one of my cousins. While mental health is a topic near and dear to my heart, I didn't expect to find the book quite so fascinating. I appreciate that the author ties in the fact that our prison systems are currently overflowing with incarcerated persons in desperate need of mental health care.
So first off, I didn't expect the graphic descriptions of some things.
But my biggest takeaway was that when I learned about the plague in school, it was one big sickness across a few centuries. But really, it was multiple waves of sicknesses after the big sickness. This is fucking insane.

There was a lot of overlap between this book and Sapiens, but I'm completely okay with it because it was done so well.
This was a cute COVID romance.
I enjoy Rainbow Rowell's works, so reading this was a given, but for some reason I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did.
