I've had this book for a bit. And back before the pandemic, I had tickets to a their tour with a meet and greet included. I was excited and wanted to make sure I read their book before going see them. But then everyone shut down, the show was indefinitely postponed, and I put this book on the back burner for a variety of reasons.

Now, though, the show is finally rescheduled and I find myself still having not read the book. I made a point to read it today (and opted to listen along because they read the audiobook themselves and that almost always makes for interesting reading) and am mostly not disappointed.

I've followed Trae for a few years now, so I knew what to expect regarding their beliefs. But I didn't expect to hear the "r" slur multiple times. That was disappointing, but this book was enjoyable, relatable (I'm from South Louisiana), and hilarious. I'm looking forward to the show and to hopefully getting my DTE signed.

Duologies are some of my favorite types of series because they're only two books, but you get so much more out what what is usually one really good story arc. This was perfection. Loved it!

Sci-fi and mermaids and based on a song? Yes please!!

This is essentially a songfic, for those of you familiar with fanfic, and I'm in love with it. I need a full universe of this world.

This was just wow. Powerful and intriguing; I was pulled into a world that is so similar and so different from my own in such a short span of time.

I can't remember if the "once upon a time" vibe of inserted stories were included in the previous books (been a hot minute since I've read them), but I absolutely adore them. "Here's what actually happened" followed by "here's the legend that grew from it" is just a delightful storytelling technique.

Also, this was phenomenal. I loved every bit of it.

I've read some gender bent stories before and I'm here for them, usually. But this one... All of this is perfection!!

You have the stereotypical fairer sex friends getting together after a while. One's a homemaker with a rich spouse that doesn't want them to work and the other has been working but not really getting anywhere and is beyond fed up with discriminatory laws that keep them from having actual bodily autonomy.

Surprise! Men can't masturbate because it's against the law and women are in all positions of power.
