How the same events are described by 3 very different women is amazing, and I never once found this book repetitive.
The other stories that all weave into the main story is just something else, i dont think I've ever read anything quite as intricate as this book. Bloody brilliant.

This book is extremely sad, it's a fictionalised novel about the life of a real woman who. Survived Auschwitz as a young woman, but while there is raped and works for the Nazi's to keep herself alive, and then once liberated is sentenced to 10 years in a Russian Gulag for "sleeping with the enemy".
It was tough to get through and I had to stop and come back several times, it's hardly believable.

I liked the short chapters so it was easy enough and felt fast paced, but it was just so god damned repetitive.
I don't want to spoil it, but christ on a bike the pulp science was a lot, and it wasn't very well explained even though it was explained at length this book said a lot but ultimately it was quite empty of actual substance.
I would have really liked this book if it was about 150 pages shorter, I definitely felt myself skimming towards the end.
I just couldn't get behind the main character I found him self indulgent and the rest of the cast felt paper thin stereotypes.
I was hoping for a fun time travel romp, instead I got a time travel moaner.

I feel like if I'd have read this when it was first published I would have thought it was an excellent comment on culture.
As it was I found it a real struggle to relate to it.
At its core I can see that it's objectively a good book, but i personally found it dated, which is weird but I think because it's set in recent(ish) modern times it just feels like looking at old pictures from the 80s and laughing at the perms and shoulder pads.
It was most definitely character driven and honestly the characters were for the most part infuriating.

This book made me cry, so beautiful and inspirational. Starting in a dark cupboard under the stairs hiding from bailiffs and embarking on a 650 mile walk when their home is repossessed and dealing with a terminal diagnosis, it was as just so emotional.

I liked this one, I listened to it as an audio book and at times it was heartbreaking but a good introduction to and look at how the system is broken.
It does not offer solutions but helps young people understand that there is not a level playing field.
I don't know if I would recommend this, but i enjoyed it.

I could not stop reading this book, it was an absolute smasher.
It literally was a roller-coaster a book within a book with twists and turns and an slow unravelling, a love story, a secret society and other worlds through fragile doors, there really is a bit of everything in this.
I also really loved the pacing of this book, it felt slow and thoughtful in the right places and fast and action packed where it should have been. Its a book that made me hold my breath but also allowed me room to breathe and room to ruminate on what just happened.
Anyway Highly recommend.

Very inspirational, moving and a real hard check your self before you wreck yourself.
I think this book would be an ideal gift for someone heading into university or even maybe a bit before.
Its an interesting look at the male and female gaze.
Not all of it was for me but all of it seemed to be solid advice.
I enjoyed it and will refer back to it.
Each chapter had warnings if it had anything that might trigger anyone which was a nice touch.
