A snappy short story, about pregnancy, birth and motherhood.
It was short but the characters felt fully alive and real. 
Enjoyed this. 

Loved this book, I needed something light after quite a few hard going heavier books.
It was at its heart a book about books and about how the right book for the right person at the right time can be transformative. 
It was beautiful and too me less than 5 hours to read, I was sad when this ended. 

I don't rate biographies, but this one wasn't for me.
Objectively the writing was good, but the title makes it seem like he had left religion and denounces all the hard-line parts of his childhood brainwashing in his parents cult, which in my opinion is not the case. 
I would say he is perhaps less extreme than when he was a younger man, however he is still deeply Christian and several of his chapters were about how he feels abortion is a terrible tragedy (in any form). 
This is a slow paced book, and eye opening but just not the book I thought it was going to be, I found it deeply depressing and deeply worrying. 

It's a lovely coffee table book, and one im tempted to store with my Christmas Decorations.

Not for me at all.
Everything happens in the last 100 pages and it was a bit boring for the previous 300.
It has all the components to make up an interesting story but I didn't really connect with any of the characters and the world building was bland.
I also have a gripe the the Minaturist bit was like an obvious plot point she just dragged up when it was convinient but never properly explained it. Half the time it felt like a neat after thought and the other half Nella just straight up asked for the pieces to be made? I think it was supposed to be mystical but at no point was my imagination sparked, and I was never left with the feeling of magic. 
Husband was an indiscrete dickhead, who basically got off on getting caught from what I could tell. 
Sister was rude, and the surprise twists were supposed to be shocking but they just felt random and tacked on at the end. 
Not sure what this book was trying for, but whatever it was it didn't get my rocks off. (Sugar or otherwise)

The story of a hard childhood.
This book took me a few evenings to read and I could not put it down. 
It was shocking and sad but also a story of hope that no matter how bad things are you can get out and you can change the cycle.

This was OK. 
I found it extremely tedious until the last 75 pages.
It is all written in verse, which is fine once you get used to if but it's not the best thing ever.
Diverse characters and a mildly interesting plot, but as I say I wasn't wholly invested untill the last half hour reading this.
Annoying because everyone has raved about it, but not even close to one of the best this year.
Wholly average. 

I enjoyed this book, I borrowed it as an audio book, and I loved it, I will buy it as a physical book for sure it's beautiful. 
I loved how each woman got their own chapters and they all interlinked and you flowed through the book, it's like a river connecting all these seemingly separate women.
