This follow up to a life after life is more of a companion novel than a true sequel. I liked the initial novel and thought it was good enough I should read the next one whilst I remembered it.

This was very middle of the road for me, I wasn't blown away, it has a less interesting premise and honestly for me felt a little all over the place.

I don't really like books that are a big long series as I get bored of the same characters and also the second world war is hardly a lesser written about topic.

Imo the first book is worth it, this just feels like a cash grab.

Nothing wrong with this, I checked it out of the library on a whim, I thought the last chapter with advice on managing anxiety was great!

Absolutely loved this, such a cool book, it really was something special, I mean I already knew the story as I have watched the film, however, the book had more to add and had me laughing out loud.
Genuinely, this is easily, one of my favourite reads of this year.

This was absolutely amazing.
Each of the four stories were beautifully written and it was just such a lovely and wonderful autumn read.
Definitely one to curl up with on a Sunday with a massive mug of coffee and perhaps a cat for a hug to give some emotional support for some of the bittersweet moments.
I will definitely be buying the 2nd book, just to get more of this cosy vibe.

DID NOT FINISH: 19%

Did not finish as the film was a very close re-make to the book & in the first 100 pages it wasn't adding anything to the story, i'm sure there would have been more detail about the preperation for the university challenge bit, however i was not that interested in carrying on with this one. I should have read the book first, but i didn't so this felt redundant to continue.

Just a bit too depressing for me. I feel like i may re try this in the future, but right now it's not for me, so i am going to donate it.

Loved this book & I recommend it all the time. I really enjoyed the non-traditional nature of this family and the dynamics of how it all falls apart, but not just in an insighting incident kind of way, just a slow unravelling of a long term relationship, i've not really read many books that are as accurate as this in my experience of falling out of love with the person you are with.

A story about a 86 year old woman taking a trip to Antarctica to hang out with penguins.

She is cantankerous and has had a rough lot in life, which become clear through a long lost grandson reading the diaries she wrote as a young woman.

Her grandson is a bit lost and the diaries bring them together.

Its quite emotional in parts but and I quite enjoyed it.

A solid short story collection. Some of these stories are messed up, not for the light hearted.

Enjoyed some of these stories and characters more than others as is always the case with collections such as these.

I think I enjoyed zimmerland and Friday black the most.

This book it very much middle of the road women's fiction, nothing wrong with it, just very predictable.

Average know I wont really remember this at the end of the month.
